    Ha! I would stay away unless you are extremely patient and willing to spend upwards of $300/each for rebuild and replacing parts. If you send them off to be serviced, that company will need to take a closer look and open them up to see what all would need to be replaced. Its like a surprise present waiting to be opened ;)

    Bought some used icons that "just needed seals" yeah right. I dumped so much money in them. The worst part was dealing with icon customer service.

    Yea it can be hit and miss for sure. For something like this, we really suggest staying away from used shocks and NOT bc we just want to sell you new shocks.

    But who knows, maybe thats grease all over the shocks and can be pressure washed off and they have only been driven on 5k miles. Its a gamble

    All the internal wear parts that supposedly had 10k on them were completely worn out. I was slightly pissed.

    Honestly. Coming from someone that has been thru 4 different suspension setups. Your best bet is just to bit the bullet. Buy from Accutune, throw it on credit and pay over time. I've spent so much money trying to be budget friendly and it doesn't compare to a custom tuned setup. It does suck spending the money but long term you'll be happy.

    If anyone here wants to make the jump to LT, I’m selling this Solo 2+ kit I had been working on. Has brand new bushings and Uniballs installed. Just needs a fresh coat of paint and it’s ready to go. Obviously you’ll need 8”shocks and 2+ axles for it (I’m only including 1 spare shaft).

    @Downsouth Motorsports charges $200 each for the fronts for a rebuild. They polish and wash and make them all fancy and new.

    This question might be really limited, but for bypass shock upper mounts, did anyone have to move the tabs that were pre-tacked from TC? I guess it depends on wheel/tire clearance and offset also. So many factors!

    I might be the only one in this thread attempting to do this. I dont think I could ask in LT thread as I am not doing LT. I also realize that I should just do a test fit, but its winter and I hate the cold..

    They are only tacked in because of differences in setups. Designed to be close, but you need to cycle the suspension properly to set the tabs location.

    Hello Mid Travel experts, hoping you can help a noob with some (probably) dumb questions so I can join the MT club.

    1. Front: Currently only 6112's at stock height, +1 brake lines from Headstrong/Crown kit. Going to add UCAs, probably JBA or SPC as of now. I can't find the answer anywhere but will I need limit straps to prevent overextending the shocks?

    2. Rear: Currently on sagging TSB rear leafs and 5160s, already have +4 brake lines. Planning move to Deaver U402 stage II with some Archive U bolt flips. Planning at least right now to keep 5160 until I get leafs installed to measure for something like 7100 smoothies to go with shock relocation towers. Of course I know 5160s won't be long enough and it seems like some people run them and can survive mall crawling. I'm not expecting to offroad during the short time while I wait to order the longer shocks - how much danger are my 5160s going to be in? My daily commute is all pavement in metro hell and I drive like a grandpa.

    3. I don't see much talk about axle shimming on the U402 setups like I am planning. Thinking I should still order them to have onhand and be prepared. Stupid or smart? Other thoughts/comments?

    5160s should be fine. And on the front end, the shocks are almost always the limting factor, so they are always being topped out on extension, rather than something else stopping the travel. Most people dont run limit straps in the front, but I do since my truck frequently sees the front tires off of the ground an it makes it a whole lot quieter of a ride with straps instead of the shock topping out.

    I agree with this post. If your daily and or medium trail running your truck then they are not needed. But they are relatively cheap to put on and if your tires ever leave the ground it definitely helps your shocks last. 20210804_131433.jpg Screenshot_20220110-121836_Photos.jpg
