I had the pros on my tundra and currently have the ko2s on my Tacoma. The pros in my opinion give a more comfy ride compared to the ko2s but obviously it's hard to compare being two different vehicles. My next set of tires for the Tacoma will be the pros for sure. Both sets were ran at 40 psi and load range E.

Which the KO2's? They were sketchy enough that I shelled out $1500 for the Maxx's while they still had 60% tread.

I should also add the KO2's are the only tire that I've ever lost a bead on.

The ST PRO's I can't speak experience as I haven't run them on my own truck but they're a much more aggressive tread so I can only imagine they're going to be noisier and being more mud tire oriented I expect they are softer and will therefore wear faster but that's observation from someone I know who has them and speculation.

The Maxx's I love them, being kind of a hybrid mud tire / all terrain tire they do exceptionally well in all conditions, a little extra wet traction would be nice but they're consistent and predictable when they'll start to slip and they provide feedback to let you know when you're getting near the limits even in heavy rain so yeah you do lose some grip in the wet like with any tire but that's expected and even worse on any mud tire, the KO2's was anybody's guess when they would break free and when they did it was like hitting black ice.

    Interesting.

I tried a bit of “drifting” when it was raining out and KO2s ruined all the Tokyo drifting fun for me. TC was completely off.

On the other hand, duratracs were like slicks in the rain, super easy to drift.

Like riding on rocks! Shop that mounted them fill them to 45psi felt like a dump truck.

I did the chalk test with my truck at 5800 lbs I run 33 front 32 rear and still wear the center slightly more (over inflated) by just a hair.

    285/75/17 E load ST Maxx.

    E rated KO2s were like bricks at 35, I can’t even imagine 40.

Agree with you on the tire pressure, but your totally wrong on the KO2, its a great all round tire. I'd buy it no problem. The ST Maxx is a great tire as well but meant for hardcore conditions.

I just put a set of 275/70 17 Ko2's on the Blue Taco back a few weeks ago. I have about 1,200 miles and a KDMax Pro tune on them now. First trip o. n the highway it started raining and my butt puckered after hearing all the "not good in the rain etc." I always drive like a turtle sneaking up on a snail in the rain but I thought they did great. Out on the desert trails, what I got them for, they are perfect. Bring your rig out with your superior tires and let's run em. Sharp jagged rocky washes await.

I like stt pros owned two sets of em on my 92 and 95 pickups . Almost 2 1/2 years on my km3's and I'm going for the ko2's next. They are all good tires . You get what you pay for. You have to be religious on tire pressure and rotations to get top mileage from my experience . Km2's where great too.

I will say the stt pros do get rough when treads are about gone and super loud for noise .

Cooper ST Maxx were amazing in all types of terrains on my 4R

    20210716_120915.jpg

Will report later on the Cooper STT Pros on the Land Cruiser

Everyone I've wheeled with that's owned KO2s say they were garbage for traction.

Liked my ST Maxx but they priced themselves out the last change. I paid like 220/ea last buy, but they wanted 309 this time. Will consider again if I can find a decent deal.

Yeah tires are definitely pricey. I don't remember what I paid per each tire but after mount balance and tax on 5 tires was like 1460 or something.

Nothing inexpensive these days. The KO2's were 1,291 mounted, balanced and life time maintenance. Also I the truck got a big cheer from the hard working America's Tire Crew, that was pretty cool.

guys. all these tires are great.

the k02s are great tires. stt pro max is a great tire. just get what you need.

i do think that it is dumb to get a tire for something that you wont use it for? is that the right way to say that?

i bought falken wildpeak at3 which is an all terrain tire. i do go on forest roads, snow, some rock crawling and some mud. they are great tires for that but they get me 16 mpg, which is a drawback.

thinking now how much i can get away with Michelin ltx at2. smoother tire, better mpg and probably better grip on the road where most of us spend almost all our time.

i bet you the op will soon be starting a thread "why does my 2021 with st pro max 285-75-16 only get 15 mpg"
