I asked her if I needed it with the 2018 and she said no, those were for newer models.

Yes, it fixed it for my 2019, but I have a little bit of electronic feedback noise, so we're working through that now...

I had checked on that electronic noise from the HUD. Started/stopped the truck 2 times. Both times I had heard a low audible noise that sounds like a disc hard drive spinning or a cd/dvd disc spinning. It's a pretty low audible and not significant enough to be a nuisance in my opinion. I did not hear the same noise on both times turning off the truck though.

If battery drainage is an issue or if it shorten up the lifespan of my AGM battery then that would be a concern. With that being said though, I do have a tune that alters the ECU which makes the alternator provides sufficient voltage for my AGM. I also have a battery maintainer as well, which I still use to maintain my AGM battery.

If KTJO wants to send me a new one that doesn't have the audible noise, then cool. I'll take it, but at the moment the HUD works and the audible noise does not bother me. I have plenty of other mods and maintenance issues that requires my attention and money.

Hopefully this helps and y'all make the best decision that suits your need.

Since @BOMBS hears the noise too, and since you've indicated that the noise stops a minute or so after the truck is turned off, it must be "normal"... as the Toyota dealers would say.

I thought the noise stopped after turning off the truck, but now it seems to be going again. They've offered to replace it for free. If the new unit has issues, then I might live with it, or put it on a switched circuit. :notsure:

I received a tracking number for the new unit 5 minutes after they offered to replace it:

We haven't had this complaint yet so it is possible that its a defective unit... we can exchange it if you'd like? We will send you a return label with a new one and please send it back to us. Sorry for the inconvenience, this is the first issue we have had with these so far. We will be in touch with shipping information. :)

I was thinking that maybe the HUD stayed 'on' and continued to make the faint noise for as long as the steering column 'info' display remains illuminated after turning off the ignition. But maybe yours is actually defective.

If the noise is normal, you defo want a switched circuit. The very last thing you want is questionable gizmos melting down.

I trusted the MC Tuning dual USB outlet to non-switched power for a few years. Nothing from KTJO 4x4 :puke: would I want running unsupervised.

Just throwing this out for consideration since I don't have one... but do you guys think the sound might be some sort of interference with the sound system given it's unusually close proximity to the tweeter?

It would have to be interference from the electrical system. I have mine plugged in, but uninstalled. It makes noise even when I hold it far away from the tweeter. These are also re-branded Chinese units found all over Alibaba, so I'm sure some other owners may have experienced this noise.

Gives me an excuse to get an AGM battery and then annoy Shellshock about when he'll be back up in Minny for a tune.

I didn't want to bother the guy just yet! I mean, if he was doing another Minny run in the spring, I would kinda have to get an AGM battery eh?

You might get something that works, you might not. Heck, you might not get anything for weeks/months/years then come home to a random KTJO package at your door that may or may not contain a pen and/or sticker.

It's like gambling without the free drinks and lights and noises.
