I’m not sure where you are located, but from the photo it looks like a place that gets cold and they salt the roads.

Based on that, I would recommend getting aluminum steps over steel (OEM options are aluminum, I think, but check) due to rust potential.

Living in NH, I make sure everything bolted to the lower exterior of my truck (and exposed to road debris) is aluminum. It’s a lessen learned from the rusted steel skid plates on my old 2nd Gen.

As an aside, now that you own the truck, go find a place that will Fluid Film / Woolwax / Cosmoline it for you. You’ll want to put some type of oil (Not Rubber) based rust proof coating on the frame and undercarriage. It’s cheap insurance.

I just got the Go Rhino Dominator D6's and I'm really happy with them. They're close enough to the cab that I can step over them, but stick out enough for my wife to easily use them:

And if you buy from RealTruck.com message Santana@Realtruck for an awesome discount!

Hard top camper...many more to add+
Step-Up…steps…nice to have ..makes it easier to climb in…
I had aluminum steps , running boards……. They are ok ..till you go off-road…and smashed them…

if you seriously off road…hard to beat most “Rock sliders”. …I prefer the one that sits flat…and stick out a bit..to step on…plus help people from open there doors and hitting your truck..
Mine are I believe is RCI..?

Always get powder coated…or bare metal…. Never get any with Rhino lining…gets dirty fast and difficult to keep clean…the dirt stains on..!
I have seen people carry those small aluminum step platforms…
    Aloha

Welcome to TW! Congrats on the new ride.
I have the aluminum Rough Country AL2 steps. I like them and have had them on since July of 20' and have racked up 30k with no chips or scrapes and have had no issues. They are light so it isn't hard to install them. Plus with aluminum there is no worry about rusting. I have slightly larger than stock tires so my truck is just a tad bit taller than stock but with these steps my 80+ year old grandma still can get in my truck but I make sure she takes her time. FYI I do not force her to ride in my truck with me because shes got a nice Buick that works just fine and rides better. She just finds it a treat to ride in a different vehicle. It's also better in bad weather than hers. Plus she loves the color blue so she loves my trucks color. I've had no issues with grip in the snow because my mud flaps catch most of the snow but what does not get caught mostly gets blocked by the pieces holding the step platform on.

What brand are these steps? I want something that goes wheel to wheel on my DCLB, and that has a step area to access the bed. If anyone else knows other steps or boards that fit that description, please pass it along.

My N-Fab’s only have 2 steps however, they make a 3 step option. I posted mine above.

I will try to find the n fab 3 step. All I can find right now are the 2 step ones. Running board warehouse has a few options. Anybody seen the aps 5 inch wheel to wheel running board? Might not be too stylish. Trying to find a picture.

I picked up a set of factory cast aluminum steps off fb market place. Won’t have them until this weekend so can’t post pics until then.

May not be available for Tacoma’s any more, I’ll do a little more research later.

Thanks for your efforts. I did try all those links. They all have a little bait and switch involved. Best priced option seems to be the iboard 5". May be a little too "clip on sunglasses", if your getting my drift.

When selecting texture options it only shows the 2 step.

Yeah. Bummer. I have these right now, which are the same style that I had on my 2nd gen for 10 years. They hold up really well, and stay looking good, but I bought the side Windoors for this truck cap, and as the truck gets taller, the Windoors get harder to use. Oops.
