I find this interesting but am glad it worked out for you, somewhat. I gotta wonder, how did Headstrong formulate their response that "this is how they've always done it"?

 

yeah, that’s the only part that got me frustrated.. @AccuTune Offroad needs to stop being stubborn and carry ADS! I would have bought from them in a heartbeat.

I don’t know a ton about suspension, all of this was new to me, 650lb vs 700lb, extended vs non, etc etc. In order for me to make a educated purchase it required alot of emails back and forth to headstrong, the confidence wasn’t there on the phone calls or email, so I ended up having to bug Tyler at ADS for more advice, which contradicted headstrong’s advice twice.

My experience at headstrong was fine, I’d go back in a heartbeat. But at the end of the day, I would be willing to pay a little extra $ for knowledge, something that accutune has an abundance of.

 

Great question, and we get this a lot. Without getting too carried away with business reasons, in general it would be tough for us to carry another shock line. The amount of parts we have on hand now for just Fox and King is pretty significant. To make room for another shock line would require a lot more space. It would also take us some time to work with their product, piston design etc. Not impossible, just not something on our radar at the moment. Maybe in the future

My brand new set of 250-T4006-A00 are still in the box as I patiently await weeks for the rears and they say not filled with nitrogen. Is this a mistake or will I need to get them filled to 150psi or is there a way to tell if they are filled before I look like an ass at the shop.

 

That is the $35 question, it would seem.

 

I’d call ADS and ask… if you hook up a pressure gauge, the amount of air released is significant compared for the small volume in there, and you’ll have to charge them after anyways. It sounds like there was a batch of bad stickers sent out to multiple people, you might’ve been one effected.

 

You would need a proper gauge to measure nitrogen pressure. Better safe than sorry, I would bring them to a shop that can charge them to 150psi for a peace of mind.

 

It is too bad that TG has absorbed many of the smaller suppliers we have used over the years. Not that All-Pro was all that great beforehand, but I'm thinking Wheelers and Low Range. And there may be others I am unaware of.

As for ADS resellers, there is still Matthew at MCM Fab as an alternative to the behemoth. He's a long-time ADS dealer and very easy to work with. I bought my setup from Matt and was very happy with the CS I got.

I recall reading that many of the parts and tech found in ADS shocks originated as an offshoot of King and their tech. I may be wrong about this, but it seems like adding ADS to you offerings might not be quite as much a burden.

You are correct as far as you go, a normal pressure gauge releases too much pressure when you make the check.

Here is a pressure gauge that will not do that:

This was accurate to an extent on a few things we've seen over the years (like piston design), however may not be the case for every shock. Also, if this is the case and they were close to being identical, it would be even more of a reason to not carry their shock line other than possibly better lead times.

 

I bought directly from ADS and Tyler was great to work with. I had a pretty long email thread with him going back and forth with all my questions before I finally pulled the trigger. Most of the time he replied within a couple hours, and he definitely knows his stuff. I would definitely recommend ordering straight from ADS, especially after hearing about the new management at Headstrong.

 

Same as above. Ordered custom rear shocks directly from ADS and Tyler took care of everything really quick.

 

I’m still shocked at the price increase, I bought mine 2 years ago at the start of the pandemic, back then I thought 2 weeks was a long wait time lol

 

It's definitely changed our perspective on wait times.

 

Going to be selling my used ads bolt in bypasses what would be a fair asking price for them? The drivers side has some scrapes from the leaf string clamps hitting the reservoir

 

I may be interested, are they stock length or extended length?

 

They are extended I have Dakar springs on it they have worked awesome
