Depends on market I suppose. Where I am I’ve found 4 sport premium dcsb 6MT and one sport premium dclb and one sr5 and 2 SR. SO they are out there. Still a month or 2 away. Except 2 6MT on the lot now. All at msrp no add ons.

 

What were the questionable tactics like, for my reference? Did you get assigned a temporary vin? I requested one but they said they don't do that there. TIA.

 

Just chiming in on what they asked and did for me guys.
Negotiated on new 22 TRD Sport, Put a $1,000 down with my negotiated price trade on my 17, All the prices stuck regardless of the mileage when I handed it over (3 months later) to them. Never got a VIN till it left the Mexico plant, and was on a truck. Recieved the VIN about a week before it arrived at the dealership. Went pretty smoothly actually. And came a week earlier than was told which was nice

They are basically adding accessories and it looks like charging prices that are on toyota site for them roughly.

I don't think that's greed, since they only seem to have 2 in stock. Greed would be asking for 5k over msrp with nothing added. I'm sure if you went there and ordered one with nothing on it and were willing to wait for it they would order you one. These 2 are for people that don't want to wait and are ok paying for these extras on the truck.

 

They definitely come in by rail!! Each province has a rail Center where all the vehicles for all the makes Goto. Then trucked from there.
They definitely are NOT trucking this many vehicles over the boarders. That would take so many trucks and so much longer.

 

Update: ordered a 22 double cab, off road in magnetic grey - dealer said 3 months ! Looking forward to it. I don't mind the wait, been waiting since i was 16 for it. They did mention TRD Pro's (as everyone mentioned) are extremely hard to get and timing for some reason varies.

 

Exactly how mine went yesterday, $1000 down and negotiated trade in on my Rav4 and the price of my trade in does not change . Glad you got yours ! Congrats

 

Al, did your dealer email you the VIN?

 

Hey Brandon. I text my sales guy once in awhile and asked him to text me when he knew the VIN so I can get the insurance all lined up before delivery.

 

Why not ask the potential CUSTOMER if they want those accessories BEFORE adding them to a unit? They are dealer installed not factory. There is a profit in those add ons. I still think it is greed.

In Canada, the historical normal number of Toyota units on dealer lots, is expected to be resolved by May 2022.
Toyota Canada normally has 30,000 new vehicles on dealer lots at this time of year. Currently: 5,000.

Sucks we can’t get what we want here in canada!! I really wanted leather led lights and 360 camera had to order a nightshade got all I wanted except heated steering wheel. Got lucky ordered 3 weeks ago from whitby Toyota they secured one for me somehow status as of Friday it was on the assembly line arrives3rd week of feb!

 

Ya the Limited, Nightshade, Pro came with LEDs Leather ect. But my 22 TRD Sport Premium did come with leather, and remote start.

 

After watching a few YouTubers on installing the rear tailgate locking mechanism (OEM Toyota part) and the rear bed lights, I’ve decided to just install those myself.
Originally I thought I would get the dealer to do it and had them include everything with the bill of sale.
But after watching the videos and looking at how much they were charging for labour, it’s not worth it AT ALL! Lol

 

You sort of answered your own question at the end there. If dealers have 1/6th typical inventory I can see why they would try and make some profits in other ways on the units they have to make up for losses.

But yeah you should have no issues at any decent dealer if you just want a stock one with no accessories for them to order you one like that.

seen alot of markups lately in my area (GTA) - i guess to capitalize on short supply and for people that want it now they gotta pay. i dont mind waiting to save $$$
