Hi all, just got a new 2022 Tacoma TRD Sport. I'm trying to install different tail lights. The ones I bought were for "2016-2021" Tacomas, so I asked someone from that company if they'd also work for the 2022's and he said they would. I'm trying to install them though, and the plugs look completely different than the YouTube videos that I've seen of installations. Usually this is obviously a super straight forward thing to do so I don't think I'm doing something wrong.

Did they change the 2022 Tacoma's tail light plug connections?

I am sure that 2022 is in same design as 2021. Since 2022 is new which is why some companies have not updated their details on the website or retail boxes.

But if you plan to get aftermarket headlights, then SR5 and TRD have different wiring harness between them. Because of DRL feature. SR5 has DRL in the turn signal housing. TRD models have L shaped DRL.

If the plugs are different, then show us your photo of it. I thinking you may need harness for that specific taillight.. Let us know what tail lights you get?

No change. Using the same LEDs from my 19 and 16. Also replaced the lens with 20 pros.

Taillights are the same. Headlights different on SR and SR5 compared to TRD trims.

OP, post some photos and I’ll be happy to give some advice. Specifically of the connectors. Reverse is the 2 position, brake is the triangle one, turn is straight 3.

My bad it was user error. Brain fog lol. Appreciate the responses though!

Although now that I installed them they're a little loose which is driving me nuts. Any ideas on how to fix it? I tried holding the lights up while tightening the screws, making sure the two prongs in the back of the tail light are in the little peg holes, etc.

Make sure the tail lights is set all the way and then tightening them in. Check the tail light holes in same position as the bed frame holes. You may want to tuck the harness aside so you will be able to set them all the way in order to fit and tight.

If you are not able to do it, you can find local Tacoma driver and he will help you out or find a local store such as 4 Wheel Parts, Autozone, etc..

Much appreciated, I'll give it another shot and if I can't do it I'll have to bring it to one of them. Thanks!
