Good call. They quoted me "around $580, maybe $600 depending on a couple things" (huh?) when I went in with mine. Efffff that. In talking to another taco owner about it, they said that they often use the same parts we'd order ourselves (as opposed to OEM) on things like tailgate remote locks, remote starters, etc. Sometimes it's due to part availability, but often times it's due to the plug n play of it all. Less time on this easy fix means more money/time on more customers. And people wonder why we don't trust dealerships ...

Wait... that's a real thread? (searching....) Mother of God. Wish I had known about this the other night when I backed into a parking spot perfectly, across from a white Taco parked like an asshole.

Doesn’t it have spade connectors and a splice to factory wires? At least that’s what I remember was required when I bought one. That’s not exactly pnp. Oem has stock connectors eliminating splices, includes gromment and plastic pass through, harness also is foil wrapped around the exhaust section and with a mix of regular and metal ties.

then you add price- for only an additional 20-30 bucks and you get all that. Just hard for me to see a true benefit to pop n lock over oem. I sold the pop before installing

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
Nope. Mine had the plastic grommets for the tailgate pass-thru and made an immediate left turn once back in the chassis and just follows the OEM main harness, no where near any exhaust, all the way forward and enters the cab under carpet at an existing grommet underneath the seatback of the driver's seat, juts over to the center pillar panel, comes to daylight then along the driver's door under the sill plate and up into the left side kick panel. It has large, multi-pin, vehicle specific connector harness that is inserted into the appropriate OEM connectors and that's it. Done. No spade connectors or any cut or spliced OEM wires.

I bought mine in early August within maybe a week of buying the truck. I remember looking at getting one on Amazon but I just went through my account and cannot find the transaction so that means I changed my mind and bought it somewhere else online. It was definitely a Pop & Lock though, as I recognize the packaging for sure. When looking at Amazon now, I see a connector that has 2 bayoneted type connectors transitioning to a Mollex-type connector. I do not recall that in my process at all. Odd. I'm going to look at mine again when the truck is back but I'm pretty adamant about cutting or even T-tapping an OEM wire. I'm pretty certain I would have remembered that had I had to do it.

EDIT: Kind of bizarre...my order is hidden on Amazon. I found it by searching and it will not show any of the details other than the part number for the PnL. It's a PL8547TAC Heavy Duty yada-yada.

That's even more bizarre. The OEM one goes right and follows the frame up to the grommet under the passengers seat and connects into that right side kick panel there. I wonder why the knockoff doesn't connect in the same spot

Sometimes it’s the simple things. Gas cap holder and a wireless Apple CarPlay dongle.67F14CF0-CE19-4D72-B27F-6C5982BA9D9A.jpgD816CDF9-DE1A-4E2C-AF33-6884DF63CB4A.jpg

Decided to put my money where my mouth is. Tinted the Toyota emblem on my OR grille using VViViD's light smoke vinyl headlight tint. Not really sure what the percentage is, but it definitely knocks down the chrome underneath. Pardon the terrible photo. It's hard to get a good shot at night.

    Nice, He does nice work.

Seeing this reminded me that I have one that’s from back when he first started offering them with the same colors in my toolbox from my 2nd gen. I need to take it out and possibly put on my ‘21. Or look into the adjustable one he makes.

Custom, only one ever designed and built interiors, heavily welded frame, all sharp metal turned bed rack and a roof top I made for $75. Power pedal, injen intake system, cat delete, summit racing brake proportioning valve controlled on the fly, slightly adjusted or perhaps unrecognizable ECM, built in under bed storage, high clearance rear built with 1/4" on a 6011 1/8" rod at 120 amps, 360 degrees of led light, a PA and CB, on board air, on board propane (to cook food), on board fridge made from an old red bull fridge found on some guys man cave built into the storage cubby under the back seat, imported tranny and clutch from a good friend over in Europe to replace this aisin junk we get, combined 32 gallons fuel capacity, 18 5 gallons of water storage, built in gun locker under RTT, and all it cost was to hear the wife ramble on about upset neighbors at 2 in the morning every night since I bought that damn truck..
Finally got my airaid put on today. Now I just got hit a busy dirt road and see how good it really is!

Same gas cap holder should be here this Friday. How do you like them apples? I’m replacing another eBay holder. This one looks like a better choice.

Probably the best $16 I’ve spent this week. I’ve tried to hook the plastic cord through the clip on the gas cap door for too many years on my 2013 and now this one….why I waited to buy this….I’ll never know.
