I've cleared codes before a smog with a scan gauge and didn't have any issues. Maybe it depends on the codes being cleared.

@Kwikvette and @Speedytech7 I don't know if you guys have studs and cone washers on the front axle flanges. I see people making themselves crazy trying all kinds of things to bounce out the cone washers. The cost for a new stud and cone is $1.90 at PS. I'll combine them with another heavier order to keep the shipping charge minimal.

I'll play the cone game for a few minutes. If they don't come out right away, then I pull them. Fuck it.

Maybe, I'd heard if you cleared the system it reset the monitors but maybe that's not true...I didn't want to find out the hard way though esp after it taking damn near 1500 miles to set

I've cleared them and drove straight to the smog check not 10 miles away. Just prayed the code wouldn't come back on. Was a misfire or cat code, can't remember. Still passed.

    I always hated them...

I never had a problem once I spent the big money on a brass punch though

They only check for visible codes then? I'm pretty sure it resets the monitors because even if you clear a code, you'll fail here due to the monitors being reset. Once the monitors come back as ready, the code comes back on (unless it was fixed)

I know some states only look for trouble codes without doing an OBDII check so you can just clear them and roll into the station for an easy pass. But here you can't do that

I figured Arizona wouldn't be so strict with smog. Surprised they even do it.

yeah same here. Probably cause he's in Phoenix I think. Lot of big city/metro areas are adopting stricter smog rules

I've got an electric heater now but just before I bought the house they added natural gas for the new furnace so I'm thinking about swapping to a natural gas heater and maybe going tankless. The cost of a new heater isn't too bad

Maybe I'll keep things simple and just replace what's there instead of going all house mod mode

happens to my left ear every now and then. Probably (definitely) stood too close to the speakers at any one of the concerts/raves I went to in my 20s

I have a big brass punch also like the FSM demonstrates. it seems like they come out ok after the 1st use. The second time around they get a ring on them that makes them harder to pull.
I don't waste any time fucking with the stubborn ones.
