Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

I have one, it’s fantastic. I also have a tube notcher that’s invaluable. I suck absolute dick at notching by hand, did my front bumper that way. If I ever build another one, the current one is going in the scrap pile because I’m too embarrassed to have it be on any other truck.

 

When you need a tool you learn to make them. You're a machinist you should know this. Plus you can make some money selling them off.

 

These guys are the ticket for making a really nice notch by hand. You can rough it in and use these to tune it up. Idk, I still use the notcher for simple notches but for anything complex I’m quicker doing it by hand.

So far my go-to method has been to just avoid round tube work entirely since the front bumper. It’s been working well and no more fucked up notches!

 

The more you do the easier it gets. Doing it by hand is how I was taught so it’s just what I’m comfy with. I’m sure I’ll be knocking some rust off of myself soon.

 

So you wouldn’t enjoy notching an entire chassis that has to be tig welded?

 

Sounds like literal hell and a lot of wasted tube, if I could even get it tight fitting enough for tig.

 

Ok. Figured this would be the best place to ask. After watching Nates video, how would running Oe replacement coils work on a 2.5 LT kit? Assuming proper limit straps and bump stop it may work? Since watching that video it's been going thru my head. Lol

 

That’s been brought up before. Doesn’t really work.

 

I feel the same, coastal says to bevel the edges of each plate and I guess I didn't bevel enough so the pieces didn't quite line up the way I wanted but I made it work. If I did it again it'd be 100x better now that I have the experience. We built a 4R rear after my front and it turned out way better.

 

I didn't think so. It's just been a constant though as to what the limiting factor would be other than less travel.

 

I'd try it. Honestly want to dive head first into doing this kind of work. Barrier to entry is space and tools.

 

Works fine with OE King/Fox shocks, just loose a little travel

 

So that’s a no on you doing an exo? Because an exo would be killer on your truck. And that’s coming from a guy that doesn’t like them…

I’m fairly decent at fitting with a notcher, but my buddy who I’m helping do my cage in my taco right now doesn’t believe in them….he has also never mig welded a cage in…..practice makes perfect I guess…lol

 

Either the latest or one back dirt lifestyle nate used extended travel bilstien shocks on his rclt. He said he did all the measurements and they work for that kit

 

I’ve only seen a few that I like and they’re super tight fitting with some complex bends to follow the body lines nicely. That’s simply outside of my skill set.
