Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

That’s been brought up before. Doesn’t really work.

 

I feel the same, coastal says to bevel the edges of each plate and I guess I didn't bevel enough so the pieces didn't quite line up the way I wanted but I made it work. If I did it again it'd be 100x better now that I have the experience. We built a 4R rear after my front and it turned out way better.

 

I didn't think so. It's just been a constant though as to what the limiting factor would be other than less travel.

 

I'd try it. Honestly want to dive head first into doing this kind of work. Barrier to entry is space and tools.

 

Works fine with OE King/Fox shocks, just loose a little travel

 

So that’s a no on you doing an exo? Because an exo would be killer on your truck. And that’s coming from a guy that doesn’t like them…

I’m fairly decent at fitting with a notcher, but my buddy who I’m helping do my cage in my taco right now doesn’t believe in them….he has also never mig welded a cage in…..practice makes perfect I guess…lol

 

Either the latest or one back dirt lifestyle nate used extended travel bilstien shocks on his rclt. He said he did all the measurements and they work for that kit

 

I’ve only seen a few that I like and they’re super tight fitting with some complex bends to follow the body lines nicely. That’s simply outside of my skill set.

 

The biggest downside to exo cages is getting enough triangulation so they don't just collapse on a hard roll. They don't always protect the body that well. I'm not a fan on larger cab vehicles. On the smaller single cabs it's almost like an internal. There's a father daughter WE rock team I follow and the daughter flopped down a 20ft drop. The exocage on their XJ buckled like the knees of a politician because they didn't have enough triangulation to prevent the shear movement. Girl got lucky she didn't get hurt. A cage of any sort IMO it's first job is protecting the passengers if it can't do that well all you're doing is adding a bunch of weight for some body sliders. Not worth it to me.

 

If you play your cards right on an exo you can make them just as tough as any interior cage. The only thing you really can't do is door bars. It all has to do with how they are built. Any poorly designed cage is going to fail. But I will agree, it would be a challenge to get enough triangulation to survive a super hard flop.

IMO lots comes down to tube diameter and wall thickness. Many don't take into consideration how heavy some of these rigs are. And that's a huge deal.

That's cuz rclt only gets around 10" of travel. It's a bit of a joke. Also not sure why anybody would spend all this time and money installing a high performance suspension, then put in cheap shocks that can't even be rebuilt or tuned. What a waste of time.

After watching some of the video, for some reason I had it in my mind he was using 6112s. But he's actually using 8112, which are good shocks, but they have specifics bump, ride, and extension zones that probably won't work with a set up other than oe.

 

Tube Dia and wall thickness only get you so far when you're missing shear strength. Exo cages are huge compromises for safety. That's the main point of a cage.

 

LOL it seriously only pulls around 10"? My Mid travel probably pulls that. Imagine spending that kind of money for zero gains.

 

you can put ORI's on a totally stock truck and get that...

 

My mind is absolutely blown that people are dumping 10k into that BS.... He must have some marketing skills or something.
