Any Quick Jack Users Here?

I recently took the plunge and bought a set for my garage since there are three cars in my life I service which I have to put in the air in order to do regular maintence on and I was getting tired of messing around with ramps and jack stands.

Here's a shot of a Corolla which lives at my house up in the air on them. A buddy and I both did the tried and true 'shake the car and see if it falls-off test' and it didn't so I climbed underneath and did most of an oil change with no issues.

My set are rated for 5K Lbs and I have no doubt they can lift that, however my Taco and my other two trucks might sit too high to be able to be lifted much, if at all. Time will tell but so far I'm pretty happy I took the plunge and got them. Anyone else using these in their garage?

Costco has a sale online right meow. $300 off so they're $1400 for the 7000# version. In fact, they show an Army Green Tacoma TRD Pro as the model in the ad for the 7k version. I just can't bring myself to drop $1400 right now.

Tell me, are these easy to drag out to the driveway to use? Are they easily moved? Of course, a level surface would be paramount.

I've always been a little scared of those to be honest, I have a friend of the family that has an entire garage so I always have just used jackstands or his big lift

 

Yes, although they are heavy, they do have steel casters or wheels on one end and a handle on the other. Even just sliding them around on the concrete floor of my garage they move easily into position.

There are two hydraulic hoses which you have to disconnect but they have quick-release fittings on them at both ends (the ramp-side) and at the Hydraulic pump. When I’m not using them I disconnect the lines at ramp-side and coil them loosely near the pump. There are also plastic caps which cover the ends of the hoses when they aren’t connected.

That sounds like a great deal on a 7K QJ! For anyone who’s not a member of Costco (me) keep an eye on QJ’s site as they seem to have sales 3-4 times a year plus free shipping!

 

When used properly they seem pretty solid. I got in and out of the car a couple of times while it was up on them and it was solid.

Okay, that's good to know, I am building a kit car soon and I've been looking into it but I just don't like the idea that a lot of them are designed to move and be stowed away, I feel like if I want something that heavy over my head I want the thing holding it bolted to the floor

 

That’s a nice benefit! Although I helped the FedEx guy unload them. They were heavy and a bit awkward.

 

I get that. These aren’t designed to move (nor do I think it would be possible on a level, hard surface) for these to move when any appreciable weight is on them.

Home Depot also has the occasional sale on these. Usually sell them with the truck adapter and hangers for storage. As for moving them, there are a couple of guys who add casters to the sides with zip ties so it is easier to move around. I have been looking at these for awhile, was hoping this Costco sale was a little better but probably due to current times and all that. The bonus with buying with Home Depot at least for me is that I will be able to get an additional 10% off for military discount.

I really don't see a need for one personally. I think it would be at an uncomfortable height for a lifted truck. I can change my oil just fine on a creeper. I can see the benefits on a car though.

 

I hear ya, my trucks (Taco, T100, Silverado) all sit up high enough that normal maintenance I just do on the ground. It was the cars in my life which got me to pull the trigger on this.

 

I could def see an advantage if you were doing a 4 wheel brake service on a lifted truck. That's about it.

 

Maybe, but for me I got this to make working on cars easier; I doubt my trucks will ever see it, especially since my lifted Silverado barely fits through the door of my garage.

I did test my QJ by lifting my Manx-type Dune Buggy up and down a few times when I first put the QJ together. Bonus that with the locks engaged you can leave the QJ’s in the up position. That’s something I might do when I’m away from home for an extended period of time to make stealing my ‘Buggy harder

 

I have the 5000EXTs. These were the best option since my garage can't fit a regular lift. So far so good!



Once the initial setup drama is done they are easy to deploy and line up ok. I like the "lock" and 4 wheels off service should be a lot easier now.
