I ended up getting the Spec Op kit when it was on sale around Christmas. The version that I really wanted isn't in production anymore and this was the closest available option. As you said, this is not the best time to be making purchases. The one I wanted was going for sub $500 when it was first released and was going for around $800 when production ended.

Should I trade my older legacy slide p229 for this p226 e26r-bss model?
Both have g10 grips, both have sig nite sites. His has grayguns duel adjustable trigger.
Trading gun for gun, mag for mag.
Reason I'm trading: my p229 was always my favorite gun but I now have 2 Glock 19's which are basically the same size so I'm trying to add diversity but still keep a da/sa sig. Thoughts?
    My p229

Never been a fan of the 229. 220's and 226's are where it's at for me.

I wish it were lower so the grooves would be able to accommodate an AR but I guess if that were the case I wouldn't be able to use it as a shelf which is what it's main use it right now.

Assuming you have adjustable stocks and they are fully collapsed, why not just extend the stock? If those assumptions are inaccurate, you could build a little shelf to store documents (or other) beneath them and raise them up a bit.

So is the minimum legal age to purchase a handgun from an individual now 18, but still have to be 21 to purchase from a gun shop? Heard last night that TN is looking to lower the age for a carry permit to 18.

Even with the stocks or braces fully extended they don't reach. I have often thought about building a shelf and just never got around to it and then found this coat rack my wife was about to throw away so it gets the job done.

Varies by state, in my state I could buy a handgun from an individual at 18.

I guess I was thinking it was still 21 to buy a handgun, nationwide.

Federally (from an FFL) it’s 21, legal purchasing age from an individual varies by state.

A federally licensed gun-shop owner and his employee were charged Friday with making illegal cash sales of unregistered machine guns, silencers and other devices and with failing to do background checks on buyers.

Manuel Reguiera, 50, owner of Miami Gun Shops in the Doral area, and employee Anderson Rabel, 38, made their first appearance in Miami federal court after their arrests Thursday.

At a hearing Friday, Magistrate Judge Lisette Reid found that Reguiera is a danger to the community and ordered that he be detained before trial. Rabel’s detetion hearing is set for Tuesday.

Both defendants are accused of selling fully automatic short-barreled rifles, AR-style pistols and silencers without serial numbers and of speaking in code words to buyers over the phone in the illicit cash deals between November and January, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A criminal complaint affidavit also alleges that the gun-shop owner sold illegal “switches,” devices that can convert a firearm into an automatic weapon by allowing it to expel more than one bullet with the single pull of the trigger.

The affidavit also alleges that Reguiera and his employee, Rabel, failed to complete federally required paperwork on the buyers, including background checks and checking identifications.

Both defendants are charged with possession of an unregistered firearm, unlawful transfer of a firearm, and conspiracy involving several weapons sales violations. If convicted, they face up to 10 years in prison.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the U.S. Marshals Service and local police departments — a collaborative effort of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program that aims to reduce violent crime.

The case against the federally licensed gun-shop owner and his employee is unusual. Normally, U.S. authorities bring firearms charges against straw buyers who lie about purchasing weapons for themselves from legitimate dealers and then resell them to local criminals or export them to foreign gangs at inflated prices.
