Apogee 3rd Gen Tacoma Rear Bumper Dual Swing Thread

unfortunately we don’t physically have the space available to store customer bumpers. But we do routinely have sales so you won’t be totally out of luck once the swing outs are released.

We aren’t releasing any technical details until we have the prototype tested.

 

We’ll get some pictures posted up once we have the testing done. Currently no latch changes but we prefer not to release detailed info until we have all of our testing done. Just in case changes need to be made after testing.

Is the HC bumper something developed along side the swing out, or is that a completely independent project/effort/timeline?

 

Different project and timeline.

 

Is the intent to keep BSM capability on the HC bumper?

 

Yes, it will be very similar to our regular bumper but will extend to the rear wheel well and require bed cutting.

 

Seems like it will be quite a tight fit trying to make it HC and all. I assume you will try for dual swing outs on that too?

 

The goal is to retain the BSM and have the same dual swingouts. We plan to gain some clearance by trimming the section of the bed from the wheel well to the rear bumper. The new high clearance bumper will then extend from our standard rear bumper all the way to the wheel well. And most importantly the bumper will be able to withstand a lot of abuse that the stock bedside can't handle. Obviously it won't be a rock crawler type ultra high clearance bumper, but some clearance gains and a lot of extra beef.

Any idea when the HC bumper with BSM will be out for sale? Patiently waiting

 

No ETA yet. We're still slowly plugging away on the swingouts. HC will be after that.

 

You go ahead and take all the time needed to get it right, my wallet is already on life support as-is.

 

Agree, take all the time, better get it done right and well the first time. If it all works out really well, I’m going to want one as soon as you drop them .

 

@Apogee Offroad any further updates to this, the cover plates, or the HC?

 

I just remembered, @Apogee Offroad any plans for making a version without the sensor cutouts? I know you guys sell plugs for those, but I would love a version without it, making it nice and smooth.

Hit some slow patches here in the new year.

I feel like every time we get close to getting these out something slams us in the face.

No progress on either of these. As for the bumper without any sensor holes, I'm afraid there isn't enough desire for them.

 

Just know we are ready to give you our monies when the HC is ready!
