Ah those. Unfortunately, they won't work (at least the RFRM one) because I have an Off Road. Too bad, it'd be perfect otherwise. I am considering just getting the blank one and seeing what I can do with it and some supplemental aluminum strips from Lowes.

 

You're not able to use one for an off road and modify it? Is there no room with the hydraulic booster?

 

Without having measurements of both panels, or at least the one you have, I don't know. I think the non-OR trays stick out a little farther from the chassis as well as that L shape being fatter. I measured and have about 4.5" from the booster to the fuse box and about the same distance from the chassis to the side of the booster.

 

I could measure the panel tonight.

Thanks! I'm gonna measure my area again and see if it'll be more work to start with a fitting blank, or trimming an RFRM tray to fit.

 

What fuse box are you looking to use?

 

The RFRM. Got all the parts eagerly awaiting assembly, just no mount.

 

Looks like the RFRM is too wide for that location if you have an OR. Have you placed the box under the hood to see what kind of room you have? Maybe mount it vertical on the driver side fender or maybe on the passenger side?

 

Correct. It will not fit between the booster and fender, but it could in front of the booster but may slightly impede the ability to life the fuse cover. I hadn't thought of the passenger side. Was gonna put another battery there eventually.

 

It would be good if you're able to mount a 2nd battery and the fuse box right next to it.

 

So what you're saying is I need to buy a battery and all the mounting hardware? Well, if you say so! I know there's dual battery kits out there, but does anyone make a mount for a second battery that also holds an RFRM (or is blank so I can do it myself)? Or could I use a driver side mount and invert it? Hm, wonder if that would clear the battery and associated stuff.

 

Maybe send powertrays an email? You might have to DIY something.

 

I emailed them a while back asking about RFRM options. I think I got a response but it was ambiguous to me so I asked for clarification and have not heard back.

The 2nd battery setup will have to come down the road. Too much going on at one time. And I can't dish out 1k right now for a setup and new batteries. I think my best shot is still a blank tray with some DIY cutting and several trips to Lowes.

 

I read one guy cut his from an aluminum baking pan. I used some aluminum scrap that had usable corners. A vertical support down to the stock fuse block mount helps.

 

Ha I remember seeing that, too. I don't quite have the abilities to cut something that thick, I think. Just a drill and a jigsaw. I'm confident I can work something with aluminum strips. Won't be pretty but it will work. I'm too stubborn. Speaking of, a yone happen to know an affordable way to bend metal? More than 3-4" wide, that is, as I have a vice to handle the smaller stuff as long as I don't need a super tight corner.

 

If you get an angle grinder you can score the metal and bend it, doing this in steel I usually weld it after but you dont have to.
