Recently got back into a Tacoma after 5 years. Traded in my 2017 Ram 3500 Mega Cab DRW for a 2022 TRD Off Road long bed.

Ram was paid off and worth more than the Tacoma thanks to the crazy times we live in so i walked out with a new truck and a few grand extra in my pocket.

Had enough of the DEF/emissions nonsense and the only thing I haul now is my four wheeler. Big difference in size and power but couldn’t be happier. That's a good looking truck and you're gonna like it... sounds like a good move.

definitely. Much easier to drive on a daily basis, and a way smoother ride.

Welcome to TW! I've gotta ask, what were you hauling before? Semi trailers?

That's was an insane truck and a heck of a downsize.

Mostly firewood and a travel trailer, then my hunting stuff in the fall, but firewood is more work than I want to do now and i can just get by with an atv and a tent instead of a travel trailer.

the writing is on the wall with the emissions systems on these newer diesels and I wanted to jump ship before everybody else figures it out.

I did a lot of research on car seats in a Tacoma since I have kids, I was pretty hesitant at first until I went and test fitted them at the dealer. It’s a tight fit, but they both fit with room for another adult or a dog in the back seat. Most of the time we take my wife’s outback so it’s not a huge problem.

for anybody on the fence about that, I’d encourage you to test them out and see, you might be surprised.

No block heater. Heating pads on the oil and transmission pans, and a noco genius battery charger. I heard the block heaters had some issues and Toyota USA doesn’t sell them anymore.

yeah, they’ve been ruined, no longer cost effective unless you’re running a biz and the motor is running 14+ hours a day 6 days a week. I only know two friends with diesel trucks left,,, one is a hanger on, and the other just bought a couple of years ago for a travel trailer and can’t stop complaining about maintenance costs.

    EDIT: oh, and welcome btw!
