We weren't photographed; The cop determined almost immediately that it was just dad giving his teenage son a driving lesson; We weren't even told that we weren't allowed to be in the hospital parking lot; My dad got incredibly frustrated with the cop though, because he was still in the Navy then. The S2000 was registered in Pennsylvania because he'd bought it here the previous year, and he had a Pennsylvania driver's license, but Pathfinder and my mom's minivan (along with my dad's Harley) were all still registered in Virginia. This was totally legal, because my dad was active duty military, and Pennsylvania like all other states does not require to register their vehicles in-state. All the cop saw was a man with a Pennsylvania driver's license in a vehicle registered in Virginia under his name, and neglected to notice not only the DoD sticker on the windshield, but also the the "FLY NAVY" license plate frame and the numerous military stickers on the back window. When the cop started to lecture my dad about how he had to register his vehicle in Pennsylvania within 30 days of establishing residency there, the veins in my dad's neck started to show; He kept his cool, but boy was he ever pissed. He took his military ID out of his wallet to show the cop and also pointed out the DoD sticker on the windshield; We had not done anything wrong in the first place, so weren't even given a warning.

My dad did not want to draw any more unwanted attention while teaching me how to drive, so even though he could have kept our vehicles registered in Virginia until he retired from the Navy in October 2007, he registered the Pathfinder, the van, and his motorcycle in Pennsylvania within a few weeks of the hospital incident.

I got my learner's permit the first time in December 2005...? I know that I was still 16 and it was late 2005, but I forget when I actually got it; I know I passed the test on the first try, but then when I had to take the test over in 2009 because I accidentally let the first permit expire, I failed the test twice before finally passing it on the third try.

Most of my earliest driving lessons were given by my dad in his 1996 Nissan Pathfinder; After my dad bought the 2002 BMW 325 convertible in May 2006, I got many driving lessons in that and also drove my mom's 2004 Honda Odyssey fairly often.

That said, prior to the summer of 2006, I almost exclusively drove the Pathfinder; My dad planned on signing the title over to me once I graduated high school.

Again around 1984 me and the same buddies and some girls went to the Drive-In, during intermission we all went for a walk and out of nowhere a cop car pulls up, 2 cops jump out and grab my buddy and throw him in the car! They take off shooting dust and gravel while we are running behind the car screaming, they end up driving to the main building where the cafeteria is and drag him out and inside. We all got down to the building about that time to hear the cop ask the cashier if my buddy was "The Guy", she looked at him and paused for a second and thankfully said No. Then the cops got nice and apologized to my buddy and told us to enjoy the 2nd movie.

Anyway, my dad took me to the campus of Delaware Valley College (now Delaware Valley University) for driving lessons numerous times in late 2005, until an asshole security guard put the brakes on that; We were driving around an empty student parking lot during winter break, and a security guard in white 1997-2001 Jeep Cherokee with "DelVal Safety & Security" emblazoned on it pulled up alongside us and asked what we were doing; We told him, and were promptly told that it was private property and we couldn't be there...

After that, my dad started taking me Naval Air Station Willow Grove, where he was stationed from 1990 to 1996, and again from 2005 until his retirement in 2007; My dad was a Captain by the time I got my learner's permit, and the DoD sticker that the Doylestown cop failed to notice in May 2006 showed my dad's rank, which basically guaranteed me a bullshit-free experience. The BMW and the minivan of course had a DoD sticker as well, and both of my parents would give me lessons in all three of our vehicles (1996 Pathfinder, 2002 BMW, and 2004 Honda Odyssey) on the base with absolutely no issues.

I think you told me that story; That would probably result in a lawsuit today!

Hard to believe that happened almost 40 years ago, but definitely that would not go over too well today.

    Remember these, @ColoradoTJ?!?!

@shakerhood, I found pictures of our old vehicles and my truck with the Department of Defense (DoD) stickers on them!

Here is the 1996 Pathfinder, photographed at the dealer in September 2009 the night we traded it for the Tacoma...

Here is a picture of my mom's 2004 Honda Odyssey with its DoD sticker, taken in November 2009 across the street from our old townhouse in Furlong, Pennsylvania...

The Tacoma has legally been mine since my dad signed the title over to me in December 2016 and basically just gave me the truck (Love you, dad!), but in June 2010 when this picture was taken, I didn't even have my license yet (just a learner's permit) and the truck was still in my dad's name; My dad had been retired for nearly three years by this time, but since he was in for 25 years he is allowed access to military bases for life and all of his vehicles (including the Harley) got these stickers...

This picture was taken in the driveway of my aunt and uncle's old house in Northern Virginia, way back in June 2010!

The military discount away with the DoD stickers sometime prior to 2015, and active duty military, retired veterans, and their dependents (that would be my mom and me) were able to access military bases with just their privilege cards. Because I have Aspergers Syndrome, I am allowed to remain on my dad's health insurance indefinitely; My military ID expires when I am 65, and in addition to getting me onto military bases also doubles as my insurance card.

My dad was the legal owner of the Tacoma until December 2016, and I believe that I finally got sick of looking at the thoroughly well-worn and by then obsolete DoD sticker in either 2014 or 2015; My dad gave me the okay to peel it off, so I did...

I took this picture in like January or February of 2014, and the DoD sticker is still there...

We moved into the new house in March 2016, and I am 99% sure that I removed it before then, so I'm thinking it was sometime in 2015...?

This picture was taken in the driveway of the then-new house either on, or the day before, July 4th of 2016; The DoD sticker is clearly gone...

I took this picture in June 2014, and thought it's barely legible, the DoD sticker is clearly still there; Narrowing it down by looking back at my pictures because I can't sleep and I'm bored...

My dentist is a guy. But I’ll tell you what, you won’t care what they look like if you ever have a tooth ache. After 3 nights of little to no sleep from a tooth ache, I didn’t care if it was purple alien.
All I wanted was the pain to stop. Recommendation was root canal and crown.
I opted to have it pulled. Over and done with. It was a very back tooth. Unless I tell you, you wouldn’t know I didn’t have all my teeth.

SOB don’t hurt no more, so I am happy:thumbsup:

Well actually, I am not not going to be for much longer, LOL...

I'm calling the West Virginia DMV tomorrow, because I am strongly considering moving there in the next five to ten years, and if I'm going to move the state I choose had better make swapping my Pennsylvania driver's license for theirs as seamless as possible!
