Membership is $50 and daily pass is $65.... :bananadead: I miss the days where membership was $15 and entry was $35 for the main properties or an extra $10 to wheel the new property across the street.

Wow, last time was 2018 Coal mine Cruiser Classic and it was the lower prices, maybe 2017. But thats high. AOAA has been reported as better wheeling by some in my LC group.

From what I have seen with AOAA is that the good trails are halfway across the park and there are only a handful of them. Rausch's trails have been groomed over the years in ways that the blues are actually blues and blacks actually are blacks but with fun obstacles and such. AOAA still has an abundance of small trees everywhere that make body damage hella easy without a trail actually being challenging rock/terrain wise.

I went back in October with @EatSleepTacos and did 36 (Toyota Trap) and this was the basic theme of the day:

Just drivers side on trees the whole trail. The drop in on the trail was fun though, reminded me of a plinko version of Rausch's brake check.

It might me just getting old and jaded on wheeling in general but paying a ton of money to wheel the same parks I have already explored every inch of to get body damage isn't that appealing to me anymore. I much rather spend the extra time to take a couple days and explore free trails in NH/VT/MA/VA/PA vs Rausch or AOAA. At least then it feels like an adventure and I can find cool campsites like this:

[IMG]IMG_5876 by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]IMG_5797 by Michael Halat, on Flickr

Or trails like this with these fools:

[IMG]IMG_5679 by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]IMG_5662 by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]IMG_5698 by Michael Halat, on Flickr

I do plan on still visiting parks but more or less parks I haven't been to yet. I feel like Rausch is really making it difficult for newer younger wheelers to get into the game with the way their prices keep rising.

I agree to a point. I wish I had more trails here to explore but I'll take what I can get, and that's an overpriced park for now. Counting down the days until I move to AZ next year and can really explore.

Nice. Yeh we do blacks at Rausch. Everyone is triple locked and a few have winches if needed. AOAA has changed since I was last there. Been a while. Once i get my timing chain done I'll get back up there.

Landcruisers have a full time transfer case so in order to try to really drive home they point that they are driving an oversized RAV4, landcruiser owners don’t say they put it in 4wheel drive, they make a big deal about locking their centre diff, it’s weird behavior that I’ve never seen out of any other group with full time transfer cases so it must just be some kind of current extra pronoun type behavior:p

So that extra lock does nothing more than restore 4wd, makes it sound less impressive.

Dude, you're moving to AZ? What part? I just got back from working out there over the past few months. What part are you going to?
OLC4x4 just moved his shop out to Patagonia too. Seems like everyone is going there lately.

Can we, who make more than minimum wage, figure out a way to have a "trickle up" effect on wages?

Luke Air Force base, it’s the phoenix area. Moving there because my wife is active duty. It’s gonna be such a nice change compared to east coast.

They have that, it’s called cost of living increase. Unfortunately any large company I have ever work with has never taken such radical inflation into account, so best bet is to quit your job, become homeless, and live off the government teet

Enjoy! I lived in Phoenix in 2009/2010. Very different than here, obviously. It's an amazing playground for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. I was down in Tucson this time by Monthan AFB.

that’s right. So every year I make less and less even though I get a raise, makes perfect sense  That’s why the only way to get ahead is to work for yourself or work under the table, you’ll never become rich working for someone else is what my grandfather always taught me.

Growing up in southern ca, I have some idea of what to expect which is part of why I wanted to go west so bad. The environment and weather is much more my style.

yup! I actually agreed to help out my neighbors buddy this year doing some lawn chemical applications. 250/day cash. Not exactly what I want to be doing, but I'll take what I can get for a little extra coin.
