here is the text of his post- ———————-
    Coastal Storm Update:
The DE/MD/VA eastern shore is on the edge of a big bullseye for what will likely be a dangerous winter storm.
I know you guys are worn down so I'm going to keep it simple and to the point....
This storm will produce heavy snow and high winds on the Atlantic Coast. The beach communities and those within an hour driving time from the beaches (probably the whole eastern shore) will see heavy wet snow upwards of a FOOT or more with high winds causing power outages and impassable road conditions beginning as early as noon Friday and lasting into early Saturday morning.
I must repeat that this will be a nightmare scenario for commuters on Friday throughout most of the state but those commuters who go to work Friday morning on the eastern shore and beach communities may find themselves stranded before the afternoon rush hour ever comes.
Wet, heavy snow will pile up much faster than crews can keep up with and add to that the usual Friday afternoon headaches and we have a recipe gor disaster on the eastern shore.
I'm shocked more weather services are not pointing this out.
I would think hard about staying home if you must travel anywhere on the eastern shore Friday, cancel any appointments and make sure you have the necessary survival items in your vehicle if you must attempt travel.
There is a possibility this storm could produce more snow than forecast, especially through the 95 corridor/central MD.
This type of storm is similar to the last couple of coastal storms, most like the one that left a strip of wet heavy snow and downed trees through southern MD and stranded drivers in VA.
Again I know the "storm fatigue" is getting high and people are getting complacent but this storm has the potential to turn nasty.
Conditions are going to deteriorate quickly Friday and vehicle accidents, abandoned/stranded vehicles, and emergency services becoming delayed or unavailable quickly after the snow starts will all be problems on the eastern shore but even into the 95 corridor.
Do not underestimate this storms potential and again, even a good 4x4 vehicle may not be enough as ground temps will be quite low again , which can cause a layer of ice under the snow on roadways to quickly form.
Snowfall rates will be towards the extreme again as well, with the possibility of a "snow dump" occurring where the roads go from slushy to several inches of unplowed snow even on main roads for a while until crews can get caught up.
THIS is where the danger occurs and what I try to focus my forecast on. It appears this could happen between Noon and 6pm Friday afternoon, which is the worst case scenario from a traffic standpoint on a Friday in the Baltimore/DC metro areas as well as the eastern shore.
So basically it's all lining up to be a very bad day when you add on the possibility of power outages, downed trees and power lines complicating traffic issues and emergency response times.
PLAY IT SAFE, STAY HOME if possible.
The second map I've drawn shows the likelihood of power outages and downed trees/lines from the combination of high winds and wet heavy snow upwards of 12 inches before it's all done.
This is also a good representation of where to avoid travel, and where emergency services will be delayed or even unavailable for some time at the peak of the storm.
The eastern shore is typically less prepared for this type of event than the rest of MD as well, further complicating things.
I don't want to "jinx" the storm one way or the other, but I'm hoping to see the storm track move further east and the predicted point of "bombogenesis" (where along it's track the storm "explosively strengthens") move further north, which would help lower our snow totals and overall impacts to the region.
IF I see any changes I'll be sure to transmit them to you all ASAP (with verification).
So there it is, a parting gift from Mother Nature for the end of January! Love it or hate it? I personally hate snow and BOY do I feel those weather changes in my bones now, but I also understand many of you love big snows or stand to make a lot of money from snow removal. So I see both sides of the coin and try to maintain a neutral viewpoint in these forecasts, concentrating on the hazards but I always welcome your opinions!

I always said I was gonna get a POS commuter vehicle that I don't care what happens to, but then I am afraid of being stranded down there or along the route. I hate being in the city. I never let any of my female co-workers walk to the garage at night by themselves. It's so unsafe down there.

Yawn :burp: I've already lost faith for this year in any attempt to predict the weather. Every year I have high hopes they will find a new method or device, or something and actually be able to predict the weather within at least a 90% certainty.

Here, I am more accurate than they are watch.........

Decreased sun today, slowly followed by increased darkness. Later tonight the temps will be lower than they were today.

That's what I always wondered about fixing it. How long before it is ready again. I suppose once a year isn't too bad. However for something on an older car, with simple lenses replacement housing might be the way to go. Maybe look at U-Pick places for a salvaged front end. I would not want to do it every year. I tried the Cutter Backyard Bug spray that is suppose to wipe on and wipe off clear. It did something but not enough to even do the second light. Granted it was my tractor but they are still poly housings.

Ok Y'all, need ideas for a cheek riser for this stock.

I'm thinking some sort of tapped insert(s) with adjustable posts, attached to something.

    Like this thing

    Sorta like this

    upload_2022-1-27_14-17-59.jpg

    upload_2022-1-27_14-15-42.jpg

My idear is this. Drill a hole large enough in the top of the frame to insert a threaded rod though, in into a nutsert inserted into the bottom half of the frame. Then somehow affix an already created cheek rest to them. However, since this swings closed on the right side, sown in the bottom pic, it also needs to not block the ejection port area. So I need space between the top of the frame of this and the bottom of the cheek rest. Does it have to close? No, but it would be nice.

Any other ideas? @pdenajim @Russty__ @AR15xAR10 @Majora or any of of you other gun geeks????????

I've even considered adding a rail somehow and then one of these
