My guy just updated me: There is a potential chance I pick it up this month. I doubt it but it's better news than "it's delayed"

I know we have had good conversations on the value of the Trail vs OffRoad. Meanwhile, there are what looks to be Blackout Plus SR5's being sold for 44k...crazy

For those not in the GST region, it's basically like a 2k+ package for wheels and tires. It makes the Trail edition package look super high value. Classic example of factory value vs. Port value of packages.

Not knocking it if you have it, it looks cool, but they're asking almost OR Premium money for it...

And we finally see the 4th and final color, black. They all look good. Black looks predictably awesome with the bronze. I think for me it goes AG, Black, LR, White.

By the way if anyone really wants a Trail, I just filter down on AutoTrader to SR5 DCSB 4x4, Green/White/Off White/Black, and then sort by High to Low pricing. I've come across a handful of Trails this way. Many seem priced for MSRP, although who knows how much the dealer packages are...

Looks like December 31, according to the Toyota app. Not sure how to check otherwise.

Would have been when the temporary VIN stopped working. The 12-31 is in my spec sheet too, I don't think that's the build date.

So my Trail Edition will be arriving tomorrow 01/26/2022 just got a call from the Dealership. Bad news I just broke my ankle a few weeks ago and can’t walk for a while. So I’m negotiating for them to deliver it to my house. 12/17/2021 was the allocation day it was supposed to be here the day I had my foot accident a few weeks back. Once is home I’ll try my best to post photos. At least we know there is hope.

Lol that was short-lived. He let me know he misread their computer system and that the 27th is the port arrival estimate.

    So currently:

    12-4 search begins
    1-7 allocated
    1-11 built
    1-27 EST port arrival

Does anyone know why it takes so long for that leg? Do they have to wait to fill the rails with enough vehicles? Maybe I was one of the first built of that load, but then had to wait for every other vehicle to get built and loaded on too.

It's actually the best walkaround we have had so far to see the wheels, stance compared to an OR, but he just butchers the specs of both the trucks.

Something that annoys me when watching YT reviews is when they mix up what's standard vs what's optional. Like in this case, the guy talks about how it has a nicer interior in the OR because it has leather (which he calls vinyl/leather...). Well of course it does, because it's equipped with the premium package. It has nicer headlights because it has the headlight package. He calls the SR5 shocks "off road shocks". And so on. It's annoying when trucks are compared how they are equipped on the lot, not how they can be equipped at all levels. Because it also makes the OR sound more expensive than it has to be. However, I appreciate him taking the time, it's a nice video resolution quality at least.

Anyways, this is why I plan to make my own YT video on the trail, because there is so much misinformation out there. I am not trying to prove it's the "best" tacoma, but purely just to let people know exactly what they get with it. Just the facts compared to other models.

I've seen some of this guy's videos and while he's done 4 or 5 Tacoma reviews on the various trims, he's more of a general reviewer who does a video on whatever the dealership can provide him that week. One day it's a Tacoma, the next it's a Ford Bronco, and the next might be a Ram 1500, etc. So yeah, he gets some of the details wrong sometimes. This is why I like to look for reviews done by people who actually own these things and can tell you what they're like to live with on a daily basis.

Not trying to knock the guy, it would be hard to know every detail and with his sub count it can't be his full time job. I appreciate him taking the time. The bit at the end where he just like pointed at all the wheel wells of the 4 Runner was hilarious to me.

But yeah enthusiast reviews or deep dives are fun!

Update: Port arrival pushed back 2 days. No inclement weather down here. 29th now. That’s 18 days from Baja to Houston, that seems like a long time.
