1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

I’ve become very anti-lights/rgb on all my builds. Younger me would be sad. Like my current case is just relatively modern components in a 98 Dell Dimension case.

My buddy’s girlfriend wanted to build a crazy budget $2.5K gaming rig. And I had to remember when picking parts that she wanted it flashy.

 

Your truck makes my truck jealous.

Best guess is that its old.

I never worry about dates or anything. I just get production back up and running.

 

It’s crazy how much computer building has changed in the last five years. When I built my first one in 2014-ish it was mainly just people doing it for gaming. Now a lot of people do it for clout and as a status symbol, making these ridiculous RGB monstrosities with the most expensive silicon money can buy to play Minecraft.

 

Maybe it’s October 2, 1984? 2-8-4?

 

Or Oct 28th 1904? 1804? 4BC?

 

I hate how arbitrary a lot of date codes are. What’s wrong with just stamping OCT 4, 1984

Anyone can understand that.

But I had to get them from a salvage yard.

 

I want mine dark and as silent as possible. My even added sound deadening to my case

Different people enjoy different stuff tho. And the rgbs are much fancier than the old cold cathode days.


And I will admit that I once cut flames in the side of my case and lit it with an led 3rd brake light

Maybe you’d have better luck posting on the third gen forum, I dig those wheels though.

I was hoping to avoid that sub forum. The closest thing I could find are these Braids https://braidusa.com/collections/off-road/products/braid-winrace-s?variant=40588352946331 but they have a fatter center

 

Gave the daily a break and drove the truck in to work.

Was pretty great to get some miles on her since she sits most of the time these days.
