I think Tacoma would get a 10 for good looks over the Ridgeline any day and if you had the scoop, well then the panties will drop everywhere. just saying.

I know your neighbor. That metrosexual Ridgeline-driving douche hasn't gotten any pussy since band camp.

I’ve driven Hondas for 30 years, starting with a 1988 Civic CRX and am a die hard Honda Fan. I even considered the Ridgeline. But the Ridgeline reminded me of my Honda Odyssey too much. Once I pulled up to a job site with my coworker in his Ridgeline and the workers asked “does your wife know you took her truck?”

I don't care what others think of what I drive as long as I like it and it does what I want. I think the RL is capable and can do what it needs to do for most. It has a better motor and transmission than the Tacoma. Better ride, bigger inside with better features etc. If its about the extra 1300 towing capacity that's inconsequential to me as I wouldn't even tow over 5k with a Tacoma for any lengthy amount of time unless in town type of stuff. Reason I went with the Tacoma is that I like how it looks, good resale, reliability (Honda is reliable too), and I had never driven a RL. Wouldn't hesitate to consider one in the future if it fit my needs at the time

    I know I shouldn’t but I’m gonna chime in….

I love my Tacoma. In fact, I loved my first two tacomas as well. But I’ve got some experience with the Ridgeline. One of my close friends has one. We’ve taken it on trips, gone camping, etc. in truth, the only real advantage the Taco has is looks and off road ability. While I won’t be buying a ridgeline any time soon, they are great for what they are.

I'm my opinion It's not a truck if it doesn't have a frame.

That's okay, Gramps. Times change. Does that mean a Chevelle is not a car because it's body on frame, but a camaro is because its Unibody? So, is the Chevelle really just a truck...

Truck definition don't mention anything about frame or lack of.

I drove Toyotas for 26 years, I wanted to try something different; we had a couple of Accords at the time and they were great cars, so I bought a Honda. That Ridgeline did everything I needed it to do, after driving it 5 years I decided I wanted a Toyota again.

265/65/R18 on a 3.5 inch lifted ridgeline. 31.5" diameter tire. Not to bad. Certainly not a bad upgrade for those who want a ridgeline

    Not bad.

    That approach angle though.

yeah, can't get away from that. At some point you will rip that front valence off if you off road enough. I didn't check to see if they make metal aftermarket bumpers for those trucks. If they do, that would be a must have for anyone doing any kind of offroading beyond dirt/gravel roads. Which is not offroading.

Looks nice. I don’t offroad like some here, so approach angle not relevant for my needs

Honda would not be making them if they didn't sell and a lot of dealers appear to be offering that lift. The truck is not my cup of tea, looks wise, but we all have different taste. I would still take a Taco over this and I would take the Nissan Frontier over it as well.

I don’t think it’s crazy to read some of the literature out there and get some ideas of what you’re getting into. But honestly for me, this is my fourth Toyota truck. Each of the previous trucks were very high mileage and extremely reliable trucks. I generally keep them for 12+ years before I trade them in or sell them. They all did everything I needed to do and went everywhere I wanted to go with them. And truth be told, I don’t buy these trucks as trophy trucks or shiny show toys. I drive them as … what for it … pick up trucks to do pick up truck things - haul stuff and load them up. I do take care of them but I work my trucks and I play with them as trucks. Granted my off-road is not what it once was but I do ski and have no worries taking them into the mountains or into the snow.

Over 30 years of extreme dependability and high mileage, that’s what keeps me coming back. Don’t ever recall saying to myself self, “dang if only I had one of those odd looking Ridgelines” :)
