someone asked if we get snow here usually. yes,but it doesnt lay this long. this one was 2 weeks ago. more coming Friday. but only @3”. been a really cold January

 

That actually depends largely where in Cali a person is. Along the coast...... yeah, not much fluctuation throughout the year.

You get up into the Sierra mountains.... I live at around 1800' elevation, out summer temps will easily get up to 105*F, and winter temps get down to highs of upper 30's/low 40's.

The Sierra mountain town of Truckee is often among the coldest places in the continental US, winter temps get waaaaay below 0*F.

I've been to Lake Tahoe in winters where it was literally -20*F, their summer temps usually get into the mid to upper 80's.

I have a nephew that lives near/in Truckee/Tahoe, and got married there several years back. Wife and I traveled there for the wedding. I asked my brother (nephews dad) why they decided on an August wedding? Brother said that was the only month they could "almost" be assured the wedding would not be snowed on! We spent the night in some cabins in the mountains the evening after, and it got into the lower 30s.
Good things - that area has some of the most beautiful scenery in the US -great skiing as well.
Wild fluctuations in temps/weather --we have them here in Mo , but nothing like I saw up in Western SD/ Rapid City

You just can’t leave stuff outside in a carport etc.
If it’s not sealed up and locked, you get this..
Caused lots of issues and actually caused the control frame to break.
I hate mice…

 

And she wonder’s why she has no snow blower..

 

I have mouse traps in the garage and shop. They “try “ to move in when it starts getting cold. I hate them mice’s to pieces.
