I've never had an issue with a debit card because I don't have a debit card. I use credit cards for cash back rewards, fraud protection and convenience. I pay them off in full every month so I never pay interest. Credit cards are good so long as you use them but not abuse them.

Mine was issued as my ATM card and I’ve just not had the energy to try to get that changed. Buddy of mine had a helluva time doing so. So it just stays in a secure spot at home.

Some would say paying off in full isn't as good as leaving a balance but I don't know what's behind the curtain so that could be old credit myth. I usually keep mine with a balance but not cause of credit. I get that from car and house payments payed on time for many years now.

The "McPlant"? Seems like they've just given up on creative marketing. The next new menu item will just be called the "McFood".

If you're trying to build credit, it's supposedly good to leave a balance of a few dollars on it.

Both of my sons did that when they got their first credit card and they both soon had relatively high FICO scores.

If you pay your cards off fully every month supposedly your FICO can start dropping because there is no debt reported by your financial institution.

Makes sense. That's what I have my son doing right now. Use it and keep a low balance and just automate the payments ahead of schedule.

Whatever balance is there on closing date is reported, even if you pay it the next day.

So you needn’t pay any interest on anything, just pay off after close date and before due date.

I think a significant factor is your credit utilization. In that if you have a lot of available credit but just use a small portion, they presumably figure you have the self control to not get yourself in a deep hole.

My brother did that in his 720 extra cab. I didn't know he was about to send it at the end of the street off a dirt jump. That was some scary fun. Truck wasn't fazed at all by the harsh landing.

    .... and back to Florida...

Drug Suspect Claimed Bag Of Syringes Was "For Fishing," Police Report
    [IMG]

A drug suspect found with fentanyl and a bag of hypodermic needles told Florida police that he used the syringes “for fishing,” according to an arrest report.

Police responding Saturday afternoon to a 911 call about a suspicious person encountered Eric Bennett, 30, on a Vero Beach street. An officer described Bennett (seen above) as “visibly intoxicated on an unknown substance.”

Asked about large bulges in the pockets of his shorts--and whether he possessed any weapons--Bennett replied, “I have hypodermic needles for fishing.” He then removed “a plastic bag with syringes inside” from a pocket and placed the works on the hood of a squad car.

Bennett also handed over a cigarette pack containing a baggie with fentanyl. “I don’t want to go to jail,” said Bennett, whose occupation is listed as landscaping in court records.

The Vero Beach resident was arrested on a felony narcotics possession charge and booked into the county jail, where he is being held in lieu of $7500 bond. Bennett, who is scheduled to be arraigned on February 25, has prior convictions for grand theft, DUI, driving without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and probation violation.

When arrested on January 22, Bennett was not carrying any fishing equipment, nor did he expound on his purported use of tiny spears to impale a big catch.

A cashless society, I kind of like the idea that someone somewhere can know everything I buy and where I buy it.
It is also good to be 77 years old and so leave big brother for the younger set who does not seem to object.

In my experience they are damned few in number. Most Snowflakes are so into video games, cellphones and social media that they don't even see or care that their freedom is being taken away one bit at a time. They're not going to like the world they'll one day wake up in.
