How do you buy sell there is nothing that talks about shipping on the threads I have read just description and price of items.
Also do buyer and seller normally use paypal or how is this done exactly?

If you have an item for sale, post it in the appropriate section ie 3rd gen trucks in that section, parts for a 3rd gen in that section, or for things that don’t have a section, here in the “other.”

Up to buyer and seller on payment and shipping. PayPal goods and services is best for protection, shipping comes down to cost through ups FedEx or usps.

Check out the buy sell trade rules sticky above for more info.

    Good info above.

As a frequent buyer....WAYYY to frequent....I'd suggest a detailed description of your item(s), good photos are a must, and a clear statement regarding whether shipping is included in the price you're asking or if the buyer has to foot that bill. My payment preference is PayPal Goods & Services so if you're covering shipping, factor that cost as well as the transaction fee you'll have deducted from your final sale. As a buyer, I like to see 1 number, the cost to get it in my hands not the price plus the shipping plus whatever fees. That's not enticing at all. USPS Priority Mail is my favorite form of shipment because it always gets across the country the fastest, the cheapest (especially Flat Rate), and it arrives at my location the earliest in the day. FedEx is second. UPS, in my opinion, has just gone to shit on my end. They're slow, they're always late, both in delivery ETA and also they arrive to me damned near at dark every time. I'm one of those wankers that can't wait to bolt my new shit on my truck right away because I have all the time in the world. :D

Now, with that said, what'ya got for sale? I still have some room on my truck!

I'd like to think that I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Then the sun comes up again and something cool gets posted in BST and.....well, you know the rest. o_O Like today. At 12 p.m. I didn't have a problem with dark footwells. At 12;30 p.m., I own 2 red LED's to lighten those dank places right up!

    It's all too fun!

The others covered it for the most part - every situation will vary a bit but generally the seller dictates how they want to handle things like payment and shipping.

I've been buying/selling online (mainly automobile forums) for 20yrs and with some common sense it's very safe. I've only been here on TW for a couple years but I'll say that I've had some of the best experiences ever here. I'm sure there are some bad apples but the honesty and friendliness here has literally been second to none I've ever seen. I'm much, much less skeptical/worried when buying via TW than anywhere else.

Shipping cost will vary wildly depending on where this 20 lb lower control arm is going to.

So there's a percentage TacomaWorld gets for using their platform to sell your item on?

No, Tw doesn't get a dime for what you sell... it's just a platform of enthusiastic members.

    You’re WAY overthinking this.

No, TW does not take a cut. Post your item, find an interested buyer and then make a private party transaction with them. Exactly like buying from a local garage sale or something you find on Craigslist.

Same with shipping. If you are both local to each other then meet up and do the deal in person. If you are selling to someone far away then box your item, use online pricing calculators (available from all shipping carriers) to determine the cost of shipping and then tell the buyer how much you want them to pay to ship the item. You can charge them the exact amount, round up, round down, charge extra for packaging and/or your time. Dealers choice here. As long as the buyer and seller agree to the arrangement then you’re good to go.

What is often done in regards to an item listed with a shipping option is a set price plus shipping. Interested folks will then request a shipping quote based on their zip code and can decide at that point if it’s worth it.

Sometimes you might sell a small/light item or an item that fits in a fixed price USPS box and you can set a price that includes shipping. Once agreed on a price with shipping either way, you can exchange payment details and get the buyer address via private message.

Whoa now! We can make money off sales? Retirement here I come!

as @JaCado said, TW makes no money off anything sold on the forum. TW isn’t like many other forums that have sold out, still privately owned with no member monetary support.
