    Alright, here's a different topic to chat about. I have my '99 4runner, I've owed it for 5 years now. I have always run Rotella T6 5W40 diesel oil in it, the (relative) high zinc package is close to the zinc levels in the conventional oil that was present when the truck was new, once I switched over the Rotella T6, the lifter clack went away and the engine just ran better. The 1st few oil changes with the Rotella just looked disgusting, the high detergent level was doing it's job.

    I changed the oil just before going to CO in August, I have about 7 K on that oil change at the moment, I usually go to 10K on this stuff. It isn't looking too bad visually, but the visual test really means nothing. I've had a few oil samples sent to blackstone labs for analysis, they've told me that I could easily push to 15K before worrying.

    My question(s)- is anyone else running the T6 in an older 3.4? How long are you pushing the change interval? My biggest issue currently is that I simply can not find any T6 locally. The commercial auto parts store that I buy from is telling me that Shell has said hey can't get some of the chemical additives to make the stuff, it's going to be April at the earliest before the make any more. I really don't want to switch brands, so I'd be ok to push the next oil change to 15K or a bit beyond, I can wait it out.

    I've only ever put Castrol GTX in Baby Toy - going on 15 years and 120k - and have the same 3.4L. I did switch to the high mileage stuff when I bought him back from dad a couple years ago. Never had a knock. Average of 5k between changes.
