Bilsteins - 1.75 or 2.5" - Yes I have searched.

Ok. I just got my Duratracs and Bilsteins today. Now the question that I have is where to set them at. Yes, I have done the searching and have found people have gone both ways. What I want to see is what is the majority? What, if any, is any problem or issue setting them at 2.5"? Will it ride level at 2.5" or will it be closer at 1.75". After the TSB, I was about 3 1/4" inches higher in the back. But, I know it will settle a little. I want to stay away from any kind of rubbing at all. The Duratracs look so much larger. I do not want to have to trim anything.

 

What size tire did you buy again?

 

I got the LT265-75-16 Duratracs

 

with the TSB and the Billes set at 2.5 you should sit about level. Otherwise, without TSB 1.5"...

 

With 265/75/16's 2.5 will look funny IMO to much lift for that tire size.

 

Oh, and with 265s you won't rub...you might have to take off your mud flaps but thats about it.

 

dude I have a 3" lift with 265s and it looks fine...

 

I hope I don't have to take the mud flaps off.

 

Well that's just me then Because I thought my truck looked goofy with a 3" lift and 265's. I just went wheelin with a guy that had 265x75x16's sitting on stock suspension and it looked fine I think if he had a 3" lift it just wouldn't look right. But that's just me

 

To the OP's original question:

Suggest 1.75

Least chance of alignment or cv angle issues

Least chance of looking "ass down"

Good likelihood of clearing your 265/75R16 tires even with mudflaps still on.

1.75, 2.5 will look nose high

 

I went 2.5 and I have the same tires, same size.

 

If you do some well placed trimming you won't have to, but they will rub if you leave them unmodified.

I have mine at 1.75 with the TSB done and after settling of both it looks like a slightly lifted stock rake. Im thinking of getting some eibachs and putting my billies at .85 and getting 2.5 in the front to level it out and get a better ride than putting the billies at 2.5.

 

I have 2.5 with TSB and 265/70/70. Truck is level (even after 20k) HOWEVER if you have heavy loads in your bed frequently the nose will be high. eg, i had a snowmobile in the back and it was nose high. Nothing crazy but noticeable.

I tow frequently too and it's not a problem.

edit: if you have heavy payloads frequently go 1.75. snowmobile weighed 500

 

I have an eibach spring with 5100's set at zero, it is about 1.6 inches and just the tsb in the rear. I say, it sits perfectly level and rides smooth and corners great. I had to remove the mad flaps though but no rubbing at all. I have 265/17/70 tires on, it looks good with my set up. If your going with 2.5, then I suggest to go with 285's.

 

I set mine at 1.75" but since I haul a trailer often I need to bring up the rear or drop the billies down to .85" It's currently pretty close to level.
