I feel like I'm missing out only being able to run HIGH on the new games vs Ultra, just some graphical issues that are really annoying. Though my frame of reference is Cyberpunk 2077 so that may just come down to it being horribly optimized and having bugs.

My primary monitor is a 1080P 37" 60hz tv :anonymous:
My secondary my wife just bought me is a 1080p 24" Asus monitor I'm running in portrait mode for discord and spotify so I don't have to tab out constantly.
Meant to post up a photo of the new setup since we just built two new desks with Butcher Block tops. Gonna be adding shelves over top soonish.

Anyone have a 'gaming chair' that lasts? We got Corsair T1s 3 years ago from NFM and all the faux leather is starting to flake off. My wife and I spend 90% of our time at home at our desks. she sits upright but I sit reclined (hence the large monitor)

Yea, unfortunately true as well, lol. I knew I should have just gone with my gut and got the pro then slapped tires on it and been done. Whatever, live and you learn.
Aint nothing wrong with that monitor setup at all. I've actually found simpler monitors to sometimes look better than more expensive ones even. It's so strange. It's all about the panels. But the gaming chairs... avoid them. Get a nice office chair that does the same stuff and your back/neck will thank you in the long run. Ever watch gamersnexus or hardware unboxed? Sometimes their evidence is anecdotal and their reviews are opinion based as to be expected, but for the most part, they are on point about gaming chairs. It's a fad. A good office chair that "reclines" and offers a better seating and better lumbar/back support is where to look.

Never bought into the hype with gaming chairs.
There is one I would consider that being the Titan from Secret Labs.

Yet for the asking price you could get a nice ergo chair from Amazon.

Of course if you have deep pockets.... Herman Miller, Steelcase etc..

I asked about the chair situation maybe 10 or 15 pages ago and got a lot of HM, Steelcase, office supply surplus responses and a lot of hate on gamer chairs.

BUTTTT, I sat in one of my colleagues 2020 titans (normal size) at work, who bought it as a work replacement in lieu of a steelcase, and it was quite nice. So, funny timing, I have a 2022 Titan XL in the black fabric sitting on my doorstep waiting for me. (hopefully it's still there...)

I wanted something with a taller back and wider seat and I couldn't find a lot in that price range. I'm so far from any office surplus store that route wasn't worth it. I'll give an update I guess in a year or so and see if the foam holds up

A good chair will last a very long time. A sub par one will not. You kinda get what you pay for here.

    The chair I have

    A slightly cheaper alternative

And you can find cheaper ones too, but those are the basics of what I'd look for in a chair. Back when I had a gaming chair, I would recline WAY too much, and my posture was terrible. I felt it every single day. Switching to the ErgoChair saved me some chiropractor visits. I've taken my posture very seriously since going on workmans comp for throwing my back out... and I am only 36. Granted, the army had a lot to do with it too... But Ikea also has some pretty great chairs like this. I actually went from an IKEA Markus - which is only $200 and probably one of the better chairs I've ever owned to a gaming chair and instantly regretted it. The Markus does not have the most back support, but it's posture is very good. Just some things to look into if you truly are in the market.

I'd never buy a "leather" chair. One, because a real leather chair is going to be VERY costly and still wear out quicker, and two, most are not real leather and if they claim to be, it's so thin it's basically paper and won't hold up. Leather chairs are not like leather boots, lol.

The most overlooked thing about these "gamer chairs" is they are overbuilt in terms of space. They are too long and cause you to sit forward too much, or too wide and too tall. Measurements are key to good posture.

Worth every penny, brings the heavily oc'd 3090 to it's knees on some games though, on max settings.

Hi Friends! has anyone upgraded their ram recently?

I wasted an hour of video game time trouble shooting new ram.

I'm adding 2 additional sticks to my 2 stick kit. Both same speeds, same timings, same capacity, same manufacturer, same part number and everything. In theory it should work.

Disabled xmp, reset cmos, and the system kept rebooting, like it was stuck. MoBo led indicated it was a ram issue so that's comforting.

Finally swapped old and new ram in same slots and boom, the computer kept restarting like before.

I then swapped back to the old kit in the original slots and the computer worked as usual.

I deduced that the ram sticks I got were bad, but I was wondering if I am missing something?

I posted one a week or two ago. Its not a gaming chair but it is one hell of a comfy chair and I am super impressed with the quality. Get the rollerblade wheel casters next to for super smooth rolling.

At the bottom of the thread page.

MSI 34" curved, 1800R, and only 100hz is too slow for gaming imo.

I have this MSI 32" curved, 1000R, 165hz. Its only a little more $ but much better specs. Running RTX 3070

You could try updating your Bios. It's not uncommon for microcode updates to address ram incompatibility. That being said it would be easier to just grab 4x sticks off the vendors QVL list if you're going to try again with different ram.

I don't Ultrawide because of the fisheye effect wider FOV gives to most games. I find a 32" standard 16:9 still the sweet spot for me and I dump the cash for 240hz or more. Not because I think it makes me amazing but it does make the games look incredibly smooth.

I'm exchanging the kit and see how it goes. Idk if I want to update my bios because a PITA and I think an update might cause an issue between my cpu (2700x) and MoBo (MSI X-570 pro) if I go to a newer bios

Yeah don't update mismatched generations Bios. It can cause issues because they didn't have enough space to load profiles for all the older chips in the newest Bios packages.

I didn't know you have a 2700X. That might be your problem. RAM compatibility wasn't really figured out 100% until 3rd gen Ryzen. Even then older Bios versions still had hiccups. Add on to that the 2000 series hits a pretty hard infinity fabric wall around 3200 mhz and getting four sticks to run there suddenly turns into a challenge. Good luck. You may want to keep an eye out for a sale on a 5700G or 5800X to get the option of a newer Bios and A-XMP memory compatibility up to 3600 mhz.

Yeah that's all good stuff. I built the thing to be a cheap cad workstation and my first build, but as I'm getting into gaming I'm churning up 15-20 gb of ram while keeping other tasks open. That's the main reason for the upgrade.

    This guy had similar issues.

    https://linustechtips.com/topic/1245819-4-8gb-dimms-on-an-r7-2700x/

    Edit:

Did swapping out the old ram that worked for the new ram in the same slots and then the same issue appearing prove that the new ram had an issue? Or is there something stored on the ram sticks themselves? I cleared CMOS before each test

Possible, Hard to know if they changed anything with a new batch of the same product number. Shouldn't but you never know. Worth swapping out for a new set and seeing if it persists.
