2022 NASCAR THREAD

Yeah, as far as I can tell there is no pit road. Going to be a series of short heat races. You could probably compete in this race with a stock Prius.

Well, nascar has made another fuck up. The spring Martinsville race, the night race has been cut to 400 laps.

 

Is that the one that ended 18 hours after it started?

I went in 2015. I'm going this year. Honestly, the Martinsville race is LOOOOOONG, but I like it that way. It's a real endurance race that tests the suspension, body panels, and brakes.

 

It will not be long before we see the end of green flag stops. They keep changing things to where NASCAR will be a series of heat races. I just do not enjoy that style of racing.

 

The 1991 Daytona 500 had some convoluted pit rules after Mike Rich died at the 1990 season finale. This led to them testing the halftime breaks in the truck series. it went away when they increased the length of the truck races but they've been toying with it again lately. I can see halftime coming in the future.

 

You're probably right. This ain't football or basketball. Whoever is in charge now, needs to get their head out of their ass.

 

It's the Race Team Alliance calling the shots more than NASCAR these days. So Rob Kaufmann and his buddies. Also responsible for the numbers moving forward, the Charter system, and cutting race fields down from 43 to 34 or 36, changing purse payout distribution, and squeezing out the little guys so they get a bigger piece of the pie. I could see a split or hostile takeover in the future as the RTA continues to devalue NASCAR as a brand while seizing more power behind the scenes. We could see a CART-IRL type split in the future. NASCAR has been buying up tracks and smaller series to bulk up their value and eliminate any rival series. They've neutered ARCA. ARTGO, DASH, and ASA are long gone. Busch North and Winston West are no more. SCCA is not a big enough player at this point.

 

And like, I'm all for the owners having more say in things than NASCAR being a totalitarian regime, but it seems like it's Kaufmann and his cronies convincing the owners to let them make changes and call shots to get more power.
