Pricey they are, however, you might be able to find a few used ones fairly reasonable. Just like everything else some guys have to have the latest and greatest and buy new almost every year. I bought my Ravin when it was 1 year old for half price from a friend because he wanted to upgrade to the newest version.

Barnett, Wicked Ridge, Center point and Horton make some more budget friendly crossbows.

Their popularity has grown in last 10-15yrs as did their price.

I bet. Seems like a great way for more experienced hunters to hunt.

PS incase anyone was wondering, there are no restrictions or permits necessary for Mexicans to take a cross bow or bow or their respective arrows into Mexico according to SAT's website (a Mexican governmental entity). The website just states that there are no restrictions. A Lot of anecdotal evidence says that Mexican nationals have no problem taking them over there. Im unsure about American's, but 1 person said they would have no trouble. I have a dual citizenship so IDC.

well its a debatable subject, i think it lets people that otherwise couldnt hunt with a compound bow to hunt. Like my wife can now hunt with crossbow, since she cant pull a bow due to shoulder surgeries. Its a slope though, recurve guys say compound is cheating, compound guys say crossbow is cheating...etc

Ehh I hate those guys that play that card. It’s all part of the experience and each has their own subtle challenges. Archery is archery.. still requires you to be good enough to get within 20-50 yds

So true, You’ll never make everyone happy. I started using a crossbow 3 years ago because of arthritis in my hands and shoulders. Since I started using my crossbow and seeing its capabilities I would venture to say that fewer deer are wounded and lost with crossbows. I’m not knocking other methods or weapons as I have been bow hunting 47 years and trust me I have lost my share of deer.

Yep, they are hard hitting as a rifle in my opinion. I like all methods of harvesting a deer

I meant of the overall hunting aspect. With my 7mm Ive shot deer way out at 300 yards and hit the overall shoulder. Anything closer I go right through the animals heart. Ive shot exotics off a mule 150yds out and hit them right on the elbow and heart without trouble.

With archery its a whole other ball game. They have to come right by you in a more open type blind. If you got some sort of smell to you or make some noise all the mature worthwhile bucks are gonna go 300yds around you. You need use better bait, scent covers etc. Theres a whole lot more to it than sprinkling some corn off your truck and sitting in a blind. Hell, Ive even hunted deer out of the bed of my truck with a rifle. With a bow it never would have happened.
