Sorry for the late response. Yes the 4cyl cluster is different then the 6cyl cluster. It all is in the file flashed to the rom chip in the digital odometer module. I can fix that.

Edit: Correction the cluster itself is the same. It's the actual odometer module that plugs in back of cluster that is programmed different. Same module just different programing. I can reflash them for a nominal fee.

alrighty I finally got around to jacking it up and got 2 driveshaft rotations for one wheel rotation...

EDIT: @SqueakyPenguin helped me not be stupid and the ratio looks like it has to be stock - 4.10
    :duh:

    Only one tire spinning?

You would need to double the count in that case. Almost certainly stock 4.10 gears.

yes ok that would make a lot more sense and then yeah they must be 4.10. Looking at the video closer the wheel just barely doesn't actually make the full rotation, so its gotta be 4.10

    wtf is going on then?

I guess next step would be get an OBD of sorts and see if the RPM reading on the tach is correct? Is there a way to identify what gauge cluster is in the truck? What else could I do?

Yeah, I would call that 4.10 gears.

Next would be like others have stated…time to check tachometer.

Pick up an ODBII reader and buy Torque Pro for your phone. Hook them up and see what the ECU is really saying RPMs are. The other way is to see where the rev limiter kicks in. I'm betting you peg out the tach before it does. lol

I would buy my scangauge 2 over again. Reads all sorts of stuff and you can reset trouble codes as well as see pending codes that have not yet triggered a CEL. My voltage is showing low because I had just turned off the engine.

You have to really wind these motors out to get 4k or 4500 rpm. You’re casually doing it between every gear. I don’t think there’s any way that tach is right.

I have the cheap $6 one on my truck. Works great with torque on an android device (which happens to be my headunit)

Alright! After waaay toooo long I finally got around to getting a scan gauge and what do ya know...

    IMG_4944.jpg
actual RPM @ idle, "1250-1000" on the tach

    IMG_4946.jpg
actual RPM @ "4000" on the tach

So now we know! Still confused as to why the the rom chip in the odometer module is outta wack or if it could still be something else, but I'm happy to know for sure im not ripping 4k @ 70mph :)

Thanks all for the input and comments!

NOICE! Glad you figured that out.

Only time I went over 4k was when I thought I was shifting down to 4th, but accidentally shifted into 2nd ***HIGH RPM NOISES***

I’ve had the same with my truck since I bought it. I got a scan gauge and when I’m at 4K per the tach, I’m actually at about 2700 according to the SG and the calculations I’ve made

why is your scan gauge showing 0mph when it's showing 2798 RPM ? Am I missing something. I have mine set to show ATF temp, Water Temp, Mpg, and voltage output. I change the Mpg to Mph just to check my actual speed to what the odometer says.
