Icon Delta Joint UCA alignment issues? First post.

Hey guys! First post and been scoping this forum out for months as I wait for my parts to come in for my new tacoma (first truck). I’ve been doing a ton of reading on different threads of rigs who are running similar builds (3” lift, 285/75/17 tires, 17x9 -38 wheels) I plan on getting. I already have a cmc, pinch welds, and trimming planned when I install everything.

My main question is if anyone has had any issues with Icons new Delta Joint tubular UCAs on their 3rd gen? I know spc’s are known for their extra caster but I wanna know if Icons UCA are good enough? I was hoping a cmc and pinch welds were enough but if I have to do viper cuts as well, I’m not opposed.

Im doing mostly highway driving with off road every other month (no rock crawling, just off trail dirt/mud/snow for camping).

All helpful and informative advice is greatly appreciated. I love this truck and is my dream car. Hope I’m not beating a dead horse with this post!

I run 285/70R17 General Grabber X3 No Cab mount chop or pinch weld cut on a 2" lift. I needed to move the front plastic liner forward but my tire do not rub. I run SPC UCA with 0 (ZERO) added Caster. I use the SPC just to correct the CAMBER.

I actually just finished reading up on your post about newer UCA flaws! It was super informative and made me rethink my icon purchase. But if I’m doing a cmc and other fitting mods, I think I can get by. I appreciate the reply!

If you already have a cmc and the pinch welds hammered in then the icon uca's with the delta joint are a solid option, though -38 offset is quite a bit. The delta joint itself is stronger than the ball joint in the SPC's. If you search around there has been a number of folks complain in regards to premature ball joint and bushing failure on the SPC's. They are good for allowing more adjustment but that's about it. With SPC's it seems to be hit or miss, some have had no issues and some have had nothing but problems. The icon's with the delta joint seem to be more consistent with those who have them liking them.

Also with the icon's you're more likely to rub the back fender near the firewall area but if you're okay with trimming the plastic already then they'll likely fit just fine with minimal trimming on that tire size/rim offset.

I am on 35's with a cmr and trimmed fenders and have no regrets choosing the icon's even though I could have benefited from the added adjustability of the SPC's.
