Since when does the second gen have a 4:30 axle ratio?

Best crawl ratio available on a second gen, first gear 4 low TRD off-road was near as makes no difference 40:1

Same setup on a 3rd gen nets you 44:1

alright i was wrong on that i give you that but is that all you got? do remember i was looking at getting rid of my 2nd gen and drove a few 3rd gens and many other mid size trucks and the Tacoma and gladiator both ranked very low to me the only saving grace was the manual option but that was it :notsure:

The problem with test driving automatics is they haven't gone through their learning curve yet and before you really get through a break-in period nothing works quite like it should.

That being said, everyone who supposedly had problems with a third gen automatic was trying to drag race them. If you drive them like a truck they're fine. Admittedly the shift logic is wonky but it's not unbearable like people made it out to be. Especially with ECT mode on, the truck can scoot. That being said, a Frontier and a Ranger will absolutely blow it out of the water if you're talking about speed and off the line numbers.

i mainly drove used trucks on the Toyota side i never got a chance to see a new tacoma i liked the manual i drove but overall it wasnt anything impressive.... compared to the other two you just mentioned the payload is higher on the ranger (cant remember the Nissan i think it was good thou if i remember right) and has more getup and go and more potential getup and go the frontier idk yet i want to see what people will do to get some more power out of them but for a stock na engine 300hp was fun to drive and it moved very effortlessly onto the highway or around town

    Crappy dealer then

Before I bought my LJ I drove an '07 sport access cab (auto) and absolutely loved it but apparently a 24-year-old male was too high of a credit risk on a light pickup truck.

But apparently I was not too high of a credit risk on a friggin' Jeep Wrangler... Go figure that one out

Yes the LJ is the longer TJ. 2004 to 2006. Frankly, it's the superior TJ build although they should have kept the older five speed that was damn near bulletproof. The six speed in the LJ while a great transmission on its own, was still a Chrysler transmission...

I miss the damn thing but I was spending more on the warranty deductible than I was on the actual car payment... Just not worth it.

The light truck comment referenced the 07 taco I was trying to buy that they wouldn't approve me on.
