That would be awesome. The VF Tuner I ordered shipped today so I'll hit you up next week for the tune.

I need VF Tuner, which is the software and cable, to load the KD Max tune onto the truck.

The KDMax group will give you data on the KDMax-Pro tune and vs the Toyota Stock tune.
We do not want to get in to any debates about other tunes.
I would not want to see any of them bashing us and I would never bash them.
It is very hard to please everyone, but we do a pretty damn good job.
We have a tune for all 2016-2022 v6 Tacomas.

Ovtune/VFTuner makes the software that is used to edit and flash tunes.
We don't sell the software, we sell the tune files and we tune trucks for a fee.
No, we are not affiliated with Ovtune/Vftuner, but we would not be here without them.
Also, VFtuner gets 4 credits ($68-100) per truck tuned.

I hear ya and please don't think I am trying to stir the pot.
As I stated somewhere earlier, I was an early adopter of OV before anything else was available to my knowledge.
I'm running 2.0 now and am pleased over earlier versions of his..... but it's my nature to chase the best !

Your product just recently came to my attention and I am interested.
I tried to get a hold of one of your guys in Jacksonville a couple times to discuss but got no response.

KDMax group is another forum found elsewhere ?

How do the credits work? That's one thing I've wondered about but not seen explained on the OV site. When do you have to buy more credits? I assume they are bought from OV? Are the credits linked to a specific computer, specific vehicle, etc?

Good question. In order to tune a different truck, other than the one you own, you have to buy credits to unlock the VIN number. But to do this, you have to have the pro software which is an additional $1,250 and requires you to prove that you are a legitimate business. What this entails is having an LLC or some corporate structure that you operate under and providing documentation proving it. Too many people were stealing tunes and reselling them without any compensation to the tune owner or OVTune (who created the vFTuner software). That is why the KDMax and other legitimate tunes are more expensive and the supply of them is controlled thru authorized tuners. If someone tries to sell you a tune for cheap I would be wary. If I missed anything, please feel free to fill in the blanks.

I've had my KDMax Pro tune for a few weeks now (Sport on A/T). Before then I had a KDMax 6.0 tune.
Before getting the Pro tune I was about to give up on the 6.0 tune. It had a weird surge at mid-revs that I found to be unnerving. I also felt that it hung on to gears too long at low speeds (while going through the neighborhood streets).
The Pro tune, however, does not. I really appreciate the truck has more get up and go from a dead stop. The throttle is no longer setup to take off as if I'm on ice.
The transmission is no longer brainless. It shifts with purpose and appropriately. This was my number one reason for pursuing the tune. I found the transmission's stock behavior to be unsettling.
Gas mileage has remained the same.

Thanks, that helps. So if it's linked to a VIN and you sell that truck, are you able to transfer the credits from one VIN to unlock another?

The files are VIN locked to the specific truck, meaning the tune files you receive can only be tuned to that vehicle.

There is no transferring of credits between vehicles.

You only need credits if you’re going to tune multiple vehicles (Pro Tuner). If you’re not tuning multiple vehicles you don’t really need to worry about credits.

How does it work if you acquire a new truck with a different VIN? Need more credits?

You would have to contact vftuner on that subject. A) You can buy a new software license for the new truck, or B) Get on your knees and ask if you can buy more credits for your new truck, but don’t count on it.
