You'd need to remove them to put on a rope. So it's better to just keep the shackles in one bag with the rope.

When I had a stock rear bumper, I ran the shackle adapter insert in the hitch without the shackle.

See I was thinking of leaving them on for more of aesthetics. If I need them they are there. Not sure if some douche would steal them. I keep my rear shackle on fairly often and it hasn’t been touched however it’s black on black so doesn’t stand out.

The passenger side cap is in perfect shape...when the mirror expolded the cap just popped up and off. The base expolded glass, cap and blinker where untouched.

Curious question. Has anyone here run a front Lokka or whatever brand of front auto locker? its a very tempting proposition for basically being now downsides to dailying in 2wd because add but a lot of capability for the money off road.

I leave one in full time that my winch hook is attached too. Never been stolen but i dont know if its been attempted, since the winch always has a bit of tension on it

Well, in situation where you are going to be forced to drive in 4HI (like recent snow storm) and making turn on the snowy/icy road this is a death wish since it's going to get locked and good luck steer that. For the front you really want to have selectable locker, sharp turns, avoid blowing axles etc...

Why are you thinking about front locker? Rear locker and good winch is all you really need. I don't even think about adding front locker, unless I am in 37+ territory and having dual t-cases...

    Why front over rear?
    - Not there in normal 2x4
    - less articulation front
    - the above with less clearance in front when in off camber ruts because skid plates and x-members\
    - More weight and more overall traction on the front wheels (more so with DCLB)

    Why not rear auto locker
    - gonna be too much of a trade off for daily and bad weather

From what I was reading across many forums, the bad weather, snow is not too bad if you are conscious of the understeer and just lift some to account. This does worry me some as i like to be a roudy snow driver and i may have to pull it back. I am actually more concerned on higher speed loose gravel/ washboard.

I do want a rear but that means selectable. after set up and compressor system its 1k more than an auto. An auto I would just do in the driveway so saving that labor too. I guess the last reasons are the most irrational, I'm cheap, curious and basically want to justify the experiment of it all. Worst case I pull it out??

Do you think there possibility of trussing or reinforcing the diff tube?

Im thinking that no rear locker may lessen the shock load as there's still no traction unless the free front and rear get full traction at the same time.

If ADD is engaged otherwise in 2wd it should just spin along with the drivers cv?

Issue with auto over selectable for daily driving and essentially not on a trailer rig, is you are putting a huge strain on the drivetrain constantly. Plus on the trail once in 4x4 you may want to make a turn or do something and in some case the auto will kick on and potentially cause damage.

the selectable is nice because you don’t have to worry about it engaging or not (assuming it is working correctly). Sometimes the autos don’t engage when they are suppose to.
negative. It’s a cast piece and I can’t imagine a gusset doing anything considering the shaft that takes the load is really the bigger issue. Inner shaft breaks and blows through the housing. No rcv upgrades for that part.

I would recommend forking out for arbs. You can get a compressor for free with the purchase of two lockers. Plus you can usually get a “save the tax” to boot at 4wp.

My 2cents. I know the auto lockers are significantly cheaper but a selectable locker (electric or air) is going to be better for a daily driven non trailered vehicle.
