Nice try! I am betting you know nothing about that picture. That was taken at Johnny Cash's famous Folson Prison concert. At the end of the show, a photographer asked Johnny for a picture for the Warden and Johnny delivered as only he could.

Yep... agreed... and this is usually HOW we learned that lesson, by getting screwed by a dealer without flowers, KY, or a kiss.

I'll say also, the move to signing docs on a tablet makes it even more difficult as well. I've bought many new cars since my first one in 1987 and the move to paperless transactions made the process twice as hard, since you now have to scroll up, down, back, etc. Bring back the paper contract. I WANT TO SEE THE ENTIRE THING AT ONCE.

Yea, they are in full swing today. Fucking tools. Tools everywhere. They get shit on in one thread for their snarky asshole comments and move right to the next thread with the same attitude. Some people should just avoid commenting. I counted at 7 assholes in this thread already. Comments about "only idiots pay cash", "you deserve it because you can't read" etc etc... OP clearly admitted to making the mistake and as most of us have done, learned the hard way when it comes to dealerships and other like sales. Getting fucking tired of em and their toxic attitudes.

Just gonna start reporting snarky ass one liners belittling posters instead of contributing anything of value. How some of these assholes made it to their post counts this long amazes me. They have no business being here. Maybe it's complacency and they need a good powdery slap to remind them.

Haha, yep. I'm apparently an idiot as well that financed for a couple months and then paid it off. I hate having debt even knowing that I could likely be making more money off the market with that cash.

I do pretty good in the market. But I'm not going say every year is a GREEN year. Sometimes the market is just NASTY

As someone in a customer service role, I deal with idiots with toxic attitudes all day. Unfortunately, unlike TW, I don't have the ability to block them. Also, fact is, 95% of the time, it's the customer's own fault for the predicament they find themselves in. So, when I come on a site like TW that is filled with entitled assholes that are probably the type to cause a scene in a place of business because they can't bully their way (because all dealerships = BAD right?) I make doubly sure to make fun of them.

Me owning the same truck as you doesn't make me your friend. If you're a customer being a dick, I assume you're at fault unless you can prove otherwise.

When we purchased out 2014 TRD Sport, they tried everything to buy packages. The best was the windshield protectant package. So they rub some clear liquid all over the windshield and give you a warranty. 800.00. Sales attempted to put it in the contract and my wife said no. Funny thing is they put it on all vehicles and just see if people pay for it.

I would know if 4344.00 was added to my final cost of the vehicle though.

Y'all watch Gold Rush on the Discovery channel? Tony Beets once stated "lessons cost money, good ones costs lots." That one has always stuck with me. :boom:

Hopefully you get pushed aside and your management has to step in often. It doesn't matter if it's their fault. You don't make fun of them in person, and you won't do it here either. Most times, as anyone in actual customer service knows, it doesn't matter if they can "prove" being not at fault. You don't deter customers and if you feel like you can, then you must be the top dog and personally, just don't get that vibe from you at all. You just work there. Keep it civil here.

Well since we deviated a bit towards prisoner entertainment, thought I would lighten the mood a bit with this classic by Linda Ronstadt at the Tennessee State Prison back in 1977 And I am not sure, but I think some of the guys backing her up in the band were from the Eagles.

I am sure those cons loved watching Linda strut her stuff in that mini-dress! She was something else!

Absolutely read everything before signing. Read it again if they decide to change something.

Not everyone gets hosed by a dealer at least once in their life as suggested by someone here. Absolutely avoidable.

That has never happened in any of my vehicle transactions, ever.

How is that possible you ask?

    1. I am not an impulse shopper. Impulse shopping is one of the easiest way toake a bad decision and lose money.

    2. I research the living daylights out of every trim level, option, and possible dealer upsell currently being played.

    3. I test drive each trim of the model I am interested in to the point of irritation to more than one dealership. Yes, I will travel an hour or two just to get the opportunity to test drive a trim level not available closer.

    4. I get preapproved through my credit union well in advance of purchase.

    5. I know exactly what I am paying OTD well before I sit down to sign papers. How? I only negotiate a grand total OTD price. I already know what the vehicle value is new or used well before I even start. If they want to add any sneaky shit into the price, it will have to reduce the vehicle price to do it as my OTD doesn't change. Keeps the math VERY simple.

Since the addition of the internet, I don't even walk into the dealership without an agreed OTD price via email. If they try to change it once I'm there, I leave and start completely over, but I now start at a lower OTD price.

    6. I never let a salesman or finance manager control the narrative at any point during negotiations, signing, delivery, etc.

    7. And finally, (probably most importantly) I am never in a "NEED" situation, where not getting said vehicle would change my day to day life. Ever since I was 17 years old, I have always had a minimum of two fully functional running, licensed, and insured vehicles. Currently have six.

There are many other ways to mitigate getting hosed by a dealership, this is my method. Hopefully future buyers see this and other similar threads posted here and take the appropriate steps to save their money.

That's always the claim. It's never management who says these things. They wouldn't last a year in leadership. Customer complaints are taken very seriously, even when they are from someone who sucks, lol. The last thing you want someone to do is keep going to the next level out of anger. It's where the saying "customer is always right" comes from, and it's just easier to nod your head and move them along than it is to deter their business, create a scene, and possibly dig yourself a ditch in the process. Don't be worried, it's pretty obvious some people who claim "customer service" in resume style are just clocking in and clocking out getting the basics done while hoping to avoid eye contact with anyone in the process. The rest of us will be happy to see you on a daily basis ;)
