Sad. A small V8 would be great.

Or, they could bump the power/torque up on the V6 they use.

My wife drives a V6 Ford Taurus that will flat out fly compared to my Tacoma. I still like my Tacoma better, but know they could give it more power.

They were fast for their time and certainly beat out a rav4 non-hybrid lol.

Surely you aren’t unfairly comparing using hybrid Rav4 Prime with its advantage of added torque and power with a battery powered motor in addition to a gas engine. ;)

You’ll get a turbo 4 and a hybrid option and you’ll like it

My point, again, is that the worship of their performance is misplaced. They were fast for their time, but underwhelming even by the slow cars we haul our kids to school in. And the outdated thinking that displacement is the king of all things is just that, decades out of date

Not disagreeing with that displacement isn’t the only factor, but it is a factor, along with turbos, hybrid assists, improved engine design, etc.
And you exaggerate about the “slow cars we haul our kids” with and my links prove that but have fun with your nonsense lol.

The c+d link shows that your kid hauler is mid pack among the very fastest cars you can list from the era.

Another example is the FRS/GT86. Panned across the internet upon release for being so slow it’s borderline dangerous to drive, yet it’s faster than nearly all of the 350ci and smaller muscle cars we drool over. Nostalgia poisons our thinking.

or god forbid you throw a miata/mx5 into the mix.

As someone that drove a Cutlass that had a Rocket 350 in it, I will disagree.

A 325 gross horsepower cutlass would be a 7ish second 0-60 and 15ish second 1/4 mile car. Not really a blistering pace. Once again, nostalgia blinds us to the fact that a cx5 kid hauler would leave us seeing only LED tail lights

But don’t get me wrong, I love muscle cars and have spent most of my life building and racing them. But realism about what they are is important. They’re slow, sloppy, generally poorly built, horribly unsafe, fun, beautiful, quirky, exciting, and awe inspiring.

My Accord 2020 2.0 Turbo EX-L is a sedan, I don’t haul kids to school in it, you can actually carry adults in the back seat lol.
And yep it’s pretty fast and while it could hold it’s own for the 0-60 times it falls at the very bottom of the list on the link I provided for muscle cars 1/4 mile times.
The rav4 non-hybrid link I posted should better represent your exaggerated “slow cars we haul our kids to school in” and it doesn’t fit anywhere in my muscle car list ;)

I do give you an A for exaggerated bullshittery and a D for your lame attempt at demeaning my car though lol! :D

I’m not demeaning your car in any way. I don’t even know what you drive besides the accord

i actually have 2 accords, the other is a 2004 V6, also had a 2012 accord V6 which I traded in for the 2020. Most reliable cars I’ve owned in my long history of cars and trucks. If my Tacoma proves as reliable I’ll be a happy man. So far it’s been great.

Back in 1973 i had a 1966 gto 389 i swapped out the engine for a 421 super duty that i was able to buy coming from an old pontiac catalina nascar. I had to get a chevelle 12 bolt rear with 4.56 gears to handle the extra power. I use to drive it to the drag strip on sunday with a set of slicks in the trunk where it turned low 12 second runs. It was considered a fast street car at the time. Now, you can buy new cars that are bone stock that would smoke it.
