I’m going up to my property on Monday to take down my ground blinds, I’ll prolly do a little looking then.

Still early here too, but I know that there’s a few on the ground. Want to look Monday cause we’re supposed to get 8-14 inches of snow Tuesday and Wednesday. I prefer cloudy days for shed hunting also.

Yikes!! It's suppose to be almost 60 here Tuesday.

 

48 here Tuesday morning then temp drops like a rock in the afternoon.

 

I saw this hunter video where he said to look for trails in snow to then hunt those areas later. In the cold, they only use the most important trails. Cool concept I thought.

 

Everyone has their own methods. We find most in bedding areas, food sources, CRP patches and south facing hillsides. Creek crossings and fence crossing can be good too.

 

It's all about feeding their bellies this time of year; they'll use/make trails straight from their bedding areas to the groceries, no fucking around on the way. When it's really shitty, they may bed in the food. Damn that sounds good!

 

I stick with bedding areas, mainly because I just like nosing around in them. I rarely find sheds in open timber, but thats just me.
