I would ask for the VSPEC which is basically the build sheet of your truck. It’d it’s truly slated to be built then they need to give you that sheet along with the Temporary VIN number. It’ll have a letter in the last 6 digits.

There’s no way it’s in transit if delivery is late February. See if you can ask specially for the VSPEC or the temporary VIN and see what they say. They know what that is. If it’s a real truck it has that.

Bet you are happy as that's not too bad of a wait for your truck, mine was about 4 months from deposit till l took delivery.

I am, I waited about a month for an allocation, so total time will be just over 2 months. However I won’t believe it till I see it lol

you basically confirmed what I said.

if you’re getting a truck in a matter of weeks, that truck is an unspoken for allocation to the said dealer

there’s no way Toyota in Mexico is taking your order then building and delivering your truck in a few weeks.

Right, I guess we were! Sorry, misunderstood you.

Yeah absolutely, there’s no ordering happening at all. They know what they’re gonna build months in advance. Date of first use of my VIN was October, built in January, for instance.

I put my deposit down in early October and I’m told first week of March for delivery. I guess my truck is at a state now where they can see it’s going into production. Whereas before it was just a guess, although their guess, based on experience, was pretty accurate.

crazy times for sure. My last 2 Toyota’s (4runner and tundra) were both walk in buys with a dealer trade to get the model/colour I wanted. Took a matter of days!

I took my truck over a couple 10,000 + foot passes this weekend. I was really worried because the 3.5 didn't feel like it was nearly as powerful as my 4.0 in the torque department. I am happy to report I think it actually does better on mountain roads than the second gen. Sport shift mode and in regular drive the little 3.5 seems to work well at altitude. Definitely handles a little better and did about 20 miles of snow packed roads. The duratracs work great, guessing the factory tires would have sucked a little bit. My only beef with the mountain road driving is when you let off the throttle completely there is a 2-second delay before you actually get any engine braking, and that's a little sketch. Hopefully an OV tune will make throttle do what I tell the throttle to do. I guess the only trail edition specific takeaway from this is that the lift kit isn't super soft and handles curvy roads exceptionally well. 140 miles, 4500' of elevation gain/drop, -8* temp, and a little snow with just over 1000 miles on the clock got me 18.2 mpg not bad. When you say the suspension isn’t super soft, and handles curvy roads well, are you essentially saying that it feels more road tuned? Would make sense as it’s the stock shocks with just a taller spring.

Maybe find a VIN on auto trader and plug it into the parts site?

PT94635221 Seems to be the part number given in another thread but Google only brings up one parts site and they're black.

It's odd how this allocation stuff works. Mine was allocated in early December. I contacted the dealer who said it was not yet spoken for, so I put a deposit on it. Even then, back in early December I was told it wouldn't be built until late January (tomorrow, actually) and wouldn't arrive at the dealership until 4 weeks after that. I've heard nothing in the past month so I don't know if it's still on schedule or not.

Side note - I went to the auto show in Baltimore yesterday and spent a good deal of time sitting in the Tacomas and checking out everything. Now I'm starting to get antsy and I want my truck!!!

In comparison to my old man emu springs, and 5100's on my old truck it has a lot less dive when you brake and in corners. It also seems plenty compliant on the rough stuff. I have a pretty interesting road to get to my house and it feels like it soaks things up just about as well. My driveway is probably more "off road" than 75% of people buying off road packages will ever drive and this truck seems very well suited for it. With a good set of tires, a fuel tank skid plate, sliders and probably a front bumper/winch I would say these trucks will get you into more trouble than most people would be brave enough to try without all the compromise that comes with modifying suspension systems.

My new A/G TRD Sport is on a similar schedule.

    12/2/21 - Dealership got allocation
    1/14/22 - Build date

The dealership said that they expect it in mid-February, so about 2.5 months from allocation to delivery. From what I hear, they don’t usually have many updates during the delivery process so I’m expecting someday in the next couple of weeks the dealership will call me and say hey it’s here, come get it!

Well, just got word that my truck that was supposed to be built today is now showing a 2/4 build date. I kinda expected that based on some of the other posts saying theirs got pushed back, but still a bummer.

Sorry to hear. I also had a date pushed back for port arrival, so 2 to 4 days sounds about right.
