Remote Start Truck Shuts Down

Hello! Does anyone knows how to not have the truck shut down after opening the door ? I use the Remote Start and when I open the door the truck shuts off. Any ideas?

It's by design... likely because of all the Tacoma thefts on the west coast.

 

Sounds like your truck may be defective!

jk. It’s a safety feature, the truck is designed to shut off. Nothing to worry about.

 

This is built into the system. There is nothing wrong with your remote start.

 

I've used the remote start from the app on my phone twice in the past week because of cold weather/snow...runs 10 mins then shuts off.

I know it can be done on the FOB key after my 1 year with the app comes to a close in May.

It was a surprise to me too when I first used it and went to open the door.

Yep, that’s a Toyota thing. Factory, aftermarket, no matter what. All Toyota vehicles will shut off when the door is open when remote-started

 

I am sure with the schematics a work around would be easy to figure out .you would also need to know the other fail safes installed.

It does sound like a good theft deterren

 

My 2019 SR5 with aftermarket remote start doesn't.

 

all push starts will shut off, key starts will stay running
