That’s what I have in my 2008 except the rear shocks are 5125s for 2-3” lift . I have the medium Dakar packs with the AAL . I have my 6112s set at the highest clip .

Story Time With Gritto

My graduate studies were in Historical Demography.
That is, in short, historical trends detectable using population data.

One of the founders of modern Historical Demography was William McNeill, University of Chicago.
His book, Plagues and Peoples (1976) was groundbreaking.
Still a damn good read and not dry at all.

When this unpleasantness began, Mrs Gritto asked me where it was going.

What astonishes me is how quickly it seems to be making the transition.

It makes sense the more a virus mutates the weaker it gets …… but I’m no scientist.

But let me try to summarize McNeill's thesis:

It's not in the interest of a disease organism to kill its host.
That's irrelevant at best and counter productive (for the disease organism) at worst.
It just works that way.
A disease must maintain the chain of transmission from host to host or die out.

As the virus adapts to its new host population, strains will naturally develop that are more transmissible and typically, milder.
They confer limited immunity (talking viruses here, specifically) against the more dangerous, less virulent ones.
In that way, they drive out the more dangerous strains.
The virus achieves an "accommodation" with the host population.

That was the pattern of influenza.
It is believed that flu was by no means new in 1918-19, just that particularly lethal strain.
Its very lethality, plus the competition of milder flu variants, put itself out of business.

I should go look it up and give some quotes, I suppose.
But that's my summary, off the top of my head.
