Yes, they USED to package Tacomas this way. I think this ended with the 1st gens. Since then, trims have been exclusive packages. I think it makes way more sense that way.

Interesting the Tundra kept that bizarre game up for so long. Like the Off-Road package was an add on to the SR5 or Limited trim. Seems the new generation has finally ended that fiasco.

DCLB? That's an option for the 2022 Trail Edition?

It also might be the picture or angle but I see an awful lot of "orange peel" in that paint. I would be suspect of a repaint, damage, etc too. I know not what your asking in post but just an indication to check closely.

1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels
The TRD Off-Road Package is also going to have flat black plastic fender flares, not color matched. That's an even easier spot honestly. You can just barely see the color-matched flares in the pic in the OP. Plus the wheel design for Off-Roads was only available on the Off-Road. Of course, this only applies if the truck is brand new/stock. Anybody can add/change after purchase, and the dealer can try to sell a used truck as an Off-Road because it "looks" like an Off-Road. I wouldn't put it past them at all.

Eh, you'd be surprised at what factory new paint looks like. That looks to me like factory Toyota orange peel.

    Oh look, another mod....
I have a 21' TRD OR SBDC, but I had the black fender flares painted to match the truck. I had the dealership do it a week after I bought the truck...so it's factory paint and warrantied. I've gotten questions from people in person and on this site "Is that a Limited/Sport dressed up to LOOK like a OffRoad?"

I just don't like the look of the flat black fender flares and I didn't want to deal with them fading to gray in a few years, so I painted them. Sure, the black flares would easily distinguish me from the other trim levels, but I don't give a shit. It's my truck.

I totally get it man. But the off road is a more expensive package than the sport and sr5. So I could def see a dealership seeing a truck with a few cosmetic things that are similar (or the same) as the OR and trying to sell it to some schmuck for an OR pricetag.

A guy at work (who's a real tool, by the way), saw my truck in the parking lot and said "Hey, that's the TRD Off Road Limited package. I've been thinking about going that route when I buy my Tacoma."

...the sad thing is, he was serious. I didn't correct him at first because I was waiting for the punchline. But he never relented.

From what I gather, The SR5 Trail Edition comes with Bronze wheels! Distinctive!

I'm thinking I'll paint the winter wheels on my Sport with Bronze Hammer Tone, to try and keep up with style. Does anyone know how well rattle can paint sticks to tire rubber? ;-)

What OP is asking about and the "SR5 Special Trail Addition" are two totally different things. OP's pic shows a regular SR5 truck with an eBay sticker, the Special Trail Edition is a legit 6k dollar add on package to the SR5, and it doesn't include a bedside sticker that says "SR5 Off Road". The Special Trail Edition actually has useable upgrades as well as bronze accents, and yes the bronze wheels. According to Toyota's website it isn't even available in the color that is in OP's pic. They only allow you to pic between White, Midnight Black Metallic, Army Green, and Lunar Rock.

The dealership I bought the truck from charged me: $630 (if I remember correctly) to have it done.

It looks spot on to my eyes. They used the same color code from Toyota for the Voodoo Blue paint, and because the truck was only a week old, there was no paint fade on the body.
