I need some electrical help. Installed a new light fixture in the kitchen, flipped the switch and it blew the switch. Figured its an old switch that cant handle dimming so I pull it out but it is 4 wire ground/hot/neutral/control. So I buy a new switch, wire it in, flip the switch and POP, blow the new switch. What am I doing incorrectly? Its just 4 wires and I simply matched the colors. Could I have wired the fixture incorrectly?

The new switch has green/black/red/red+white stripe. I assumed red+white stripe was neutral but maybe thats wrong.

The fixture being wired would be my first guess but I am terrible at home electrical. I can figure it out if it is right in front of me.

Switch on a 3-way (i.e. are there two switches that can turn on and off the same light)?

If not (i.e. just a single switch for the light, as is most common), cap off red/white wire, you do not use that.

You need to know what wire from the wall is the hot side. That wire goes to the black wire on the switch.

The black wire in the wall that goes to feed the light attaches to the red wire on the switch.

    The green wire is ground.

At no point does a white wire attach to this switch.

There was no difference in sensation after the procedure. It was exactly the same.

If you're on the fence, get this done, as I've said before. Painless (for me at least), cheap (free through the VA), and alleviates any potential future stressors.

Plus, women love it. You take the burden off of their shoulders, to remember to take BC (which is terrible for them anyways), or to have to practice the pull out method, and you can get right to the good stuff the first time you have sex.

That is correct, only this single switch for the light. The old fixture had all 4 wires connected though.

That's fine that the old fixture had two power wires connected. Someone either didn't know what they were doing, or they didn't take the time to determine which hot wire actually powers the light, so they just connected both. All it means is that that extra wire is hot when the light is turned on, but your house isn't burning down, so it's been capped off appropriately somewhere in your house.

It being a single switch, do what I typed up and you'll be golden.

At the Lucid Motors facility in Casa Grande. A lot has changed in two years since we were first out here delivering bolts. Now they are expanding big time.

Steve was looking at getting in there.. but then he snagged that job at Tesla. We're still trying to get them as a customer as well.. massive facility for sure.

Must be just be a great opportunity out at Tesla in Austin. I think he will get along great out there. I hope y’all can get some work! With them actually delivering vehicles and going public last year I think they are gonna blow up. I hear lot of disappointment in Tesla customer service and how they deliver new vehicles. Competition is good.

It was never officially announced (that I'm aware of), but a few employees confirmed it was dead a couple of weeks ago.

Those Rally Fighters were the Hot Wheels kind of cool.

I think they had a great idea. But the market was slim and a high entry point to play
