a while back i disconnected an aftermarket alarm. After that my dome light stopped working when the door opens. I can still turn it on with the overhead switch but cant get it to work with the door. any ideas what could cause this?

As many as I can fabricate
Make sure the alarm is "completely" gone. Looks like one alarm trigger was the door open/dome light switch. You'll have to chase wires with a test light, or look up the schematic on line.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
When you disconnected, you might not have reconnected a lead to the door open switch. I believe some alarms utilize the circuit that actuates the dome light when the door is opened.

Sometimes with led's the switches have to be juuuuuust right to get them to trigger for some reason. Any chance that's your issue?

Simple to try if you haven’t:
Try wiggling the switch also, both my trucks can be finicky when switching back and forth from door/off\on
They work sporadically if moved back and forth, give it a little movement and its on.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Check the door switches are completing the circuit to ground.I would think this is the problem.

The switch on the light can also get very dirty

Checked door switch and ceiling switch. suggested above. No luck. It must be the alarm wiring. Problem is, I removed that some years ago. I don’t remember what the wiring even looks like. Previous owner installed it. Can anyone suggest what to look for?

The larger black box hanging looks like the alarm control box (KKMOON) and the smaller black box is a relay

Yeah man, that box hanging there is definitely not oem. No judgment, but that wiring is kinda a mess.
So if that alarm is there, it kinda makes me wonder: what did you remove back then?

Did you ever figure this out?

having the same issue. Door circuit works, dome light works when set to on. There is a complete circuit on the dome light when it is set to DOOR and the door is open. Just no voltage.

what else is left to check? The ECU?
