is there a 2010 Leafspring TSB??

I see the TSB list for 05-09 but nothing for 2010.. im sure i could keep searchin and find a list but dont have much time on my hands tonight.. post a link or let me know TSBs for my 2010 Sport access cab if possible! Thanks!

Just tell them the issue you are having and why you need the TSB. If you don't know what the issue is, or why you need the TSB, then you obviously don't need it.

The easiest way to not get hassled by the dealer is to bring it to some place that has already done the suspension TSB on another truck. The second thread I posted is a list of dealers who have performed the TSB.

After speaking with Toyota Corporate they arranged a meeting with my local dealer (who initally balked to get it done) and agreed to do it.........meh but I decided against it after talking to a mechanic in the service department. He said my rear would rise about 3 inches since it would be only springs and not shocks and springs,,,,,,and it's already sitting up a little higher than the front. I don't want the ass up 90% of the time it will be empty, or not towing a boat, and I don't want to lift the entire truck at all. It's plenty high enough for my use. I will live with the hard ride a few times a year I will put a load on it and enjoy the softer ride otherwise.

BTW all you need to tell the dealer (or Toyota) is you will be towing with the truck and they will do the TSB. From what I have been reading it is definately needed if there will be some heavy duty towing. Like travel campers with 500LB toungue weights, Most pleasure boats are light and shouldn't pose an issue. (I hope)

 

3 inches? Mine went up an inch and a half at first maybe for a week. 2 years later I'm about where I started, maybe 0.5" up. Plus the ride is better even without a load. With something in the bed or while towing it's WAY better. Put in some passengers and a full tank of gas and I'm thankful for that extra leaf.

 

I have a harsh bounce in the rear when hitting bumps.. i live in a small town with roads that are shitty, paved but full of potholes... Not to mention in the spring, summer, and some of the fall i do alot of driving with my quad in the back... 400 punds shouldnt make a truck sag the way it does!

 

I had the same problem when hauling two dirtbikes & gear, after I went to the dealership with the truck loaded they agreed to update the springs. I changed the shocks to Bilstein 5100's and have been very happy with the results. No bottoming out and the whole truck feels more stable whether loaded or not.

 

ya im planning on getting the 5100s all around but just dont have the funds for it at this time.. i have a buddy that works at the toyota dealership so i shouldnt have issues if i say i want it done.

Ok so i just read the link posted by BriWi... not sure but reading it, it seems to me that i cant get it.. maybe im reading it wrong.. but i have a 2010 TRD Sport Access Cab... in the top it lists the VDS.. a part of my vin matches that.. so does that mean i can get this??

 

I would suggest that you verify everything at the dealership, they and Toyota America will have the final word. Also, I ran the stock shock after the rear spring change and IMO they are kind of harsh on the compression. Changed to the 5100's on all 4 corners and after about two weeks everything settled in. Now the truck rides about perfect, controlled and stable.

 

Sounds great but You replaced your shocks as well and doesn't the 4WD have different suspension that the TRD 2WD?

I don't want to have to change the shocks with the Spring TSB. Seems to me many are doing just that along with a lift. I guess the bottom line is if I did not know about the TSB I would not think I need it. I guess the first time I need to hook up the boat I will know.

 

They didn't replace my shocks with the TSB. Not sure on 2wd vs 4wd shocks but it shouldn't matter. TRD models keep factory yellow bilsteins. Non-TRD models were suppose to get new TRD style bilsteins with the TSB if I remember correctly.

I did end up putting 5100s on to further improve ride quality plus raise the front 0.85" to level it. The TSB improved the ride a lot, but TSB plus 5100s is incredible. Also, replacing shocks won't change ride height. Only if you get adjustable ones (like front 5100s) and set them at a higher setting. Settings are 0 (no change), 0.85, 1.75, and 2.5.

Don't mean to try to talk you into it but I was hesitant too. Afterwards I was very glad I found out about it and got it done.

 

Just called MotorWorld Toyota.. Theyre gonna check the Leaf Spring TSB and the Tranny TSB!!

After getting approved LOL......I decided not to let the guys at Toyota mess with my truck unnecessarily for an extra spring I really don't need. If I find I will need better support, I like the idea of going the Firestone air shock route for $300. It is reversible.

The 5100s sound like a good idea though when it's time to replace shocks. I do love the sloppy cushy ride though but I use my truck as a "car with truck capabilities" and my off roading days are long gone.
