I wonder if people didn't make a habit of sending cold food back, needing it remade and costing them money. That said, no reason for someone to be rude about it

As stated above, Michael's is one of those places I picked up at once or twice and refuse to do so again; I'd literally be getting paid about a dollar per mile to deliver someone's art supplies. 14 miles is a pretty decent amount of driving, so I turned it down!

While I was waiting in line at BJ's to get gas, this order came in and I obviously turned it down...

Right after I left BJ's, another order came in from Turning Point in Warrington for $7.25; I took it, but got into it with the barista...

    Why?

So the order wasn't ready when I got there; That's not the problem. I went to take a leak, and when I got out of the restroom, it was ready. At the Turning Point, at least this location (there's got to be at least four scattered across Bucks-Mont), the orders were right there for Dashers to grab. You just showed the employee your phone and you could take it...

The order was on the rack, but the rack has been moved into a restricted area; The barista was on the phone and couldn't help me right then. Okay, fine. Another employee who was on break and playing on her phone rather rudely said that the other girl was on the phone; No shit...

I commented that it was right there, and I was just gonna take it and go; The second employee (the less attractive one who was on break) said, and I quote, "Unfortunately, it's behind the line"...

    Behind the line?!?! o_O

Are we in fucking kindergarten or something? Like an imaginary line, and a couple of bitchy teenagers are really gone stop me? Plus, it's not like it was back in the kitchen; It was literally right there! The first, much more attractive employee got off the phone and gave me the bag, but I would have grabbed it...

Most restaurants, whether they are nationwide chains or local independently-owned places, waste no time in handing you the order if it isn't already on an open-to-the-public rack; It ticks me off to no end when they leave the order on a rack just out of reach in a restricted area!

Thankfully, even restaurants that have signs out front recommending masks don't enforce it; In the last three months, I have only seen one restaurant that demands everyone wear a mask, and it was like 50 miles away in Chester County. I refuse to Dash in Philly anymore for numerous reasons, but one of them is that all restaurants in the city are required to not only ask for proof of vaccination, but photo ID to prove that the vaccine card is actual yours. I am fully vaccinated and have a card to prove it, but I'm not showing a restaurant order my driver's license just to get damn DoorDash order! :luvya:

I am not losing money; I am sick of restaurants acting like it's April 2020. If I give up DoorDash for any reason, it'll be because I'm sick of overzealous employees who get drunk on power when enforcing imaginary "zones" in restaurants...

I don't do DoorDash in Philly anymore; Haven't since that brewery in Germantown before Christmas...

That was BEFORE Philly went back into overdrive with the COVID restrictions; My dad and I won't even be taking the SEPTA train into the city for the International Auto Show because of the mask requirements, the requirement to show photo ID to eat in the food court at the Convention Center, and the potential for violence; I was considering driving into Philly to avoid the mask requirement on the train, but that would mean leaving either my Tacoma or one of my parents' vehicles unattended in a public parking lot in Philadelphia for 6+ hours!

And I will not be taking another traditional job anytime soon, because pretty much everyone requires all employees to wear a mask at all times regardless of vaccination status; The company I work at now does not require masks for the full vaccinated, so I'm set in that respect!

My day job includes $17 per hour, a 401K, and paid vacations; There is no mask requirement. DoorDash requires masks to be worn when interacting with both customers and merchants, but they have no way whatsoever of enforcing this and it's 50/50 tossup between who is wearing a mask and who is not. Most customers opt for a contactless delivery where I just leave the food at the front door and leave, so it's also not an issue in that respect, either. My primary reason for doing DoorDash at this very moment is because replacing the oxygen sensors cost me over $400 and I didn't want to dip into my savings.

    @Taco critter

More good news! The bar where I worked from November 2014 to January 2019 had relocated to a new building one street over; My former has plans to install me as the head barback once they reopen, so between that and my primary job at NAVMAR, I will not need DoorDash! I'm still going to keep my accounts with both DoorDash and Uber open as a backup source of income, just in case, but you will be happy to know that within the next six months or so DoorDash will likely be a thing of the past!

Also, let's face it; I like driving. It relieves stress! I did absolutely no DoorDash from early March of 2020 to the end of January 2021 because of COVID, but I still managed to put about 15K miles on my truck that year due to all the car shows I still managed to go to, and what my cousin calls "mental health drives".

This seriously came in from the fairly new McDonald's on 611 in Warrington as I was driving by; Obviously, I declined it...

    86CDACF6-80F2-4E17-B03E-8647EB6CFC16.jpg

I would say that this was some teenage retail worker at one of the dozens of stores in Warrington on Route 611 and/or Street Road, but you can clearly see that is was going to a residential neighborhood based on the layout of the streets; There is a slight chance that they would added more to the tip later, but in my experience if it's less than $6.50, the likelihood of the final payout being higher is virtually nil.

Now, the Wawa was not very far from the customer's location in this case, but a lot of these people don't seem to realize that very rarely is a Dasher ever right there...

If you want your food to be fresh and/or warm when it arrives, then all area Dashers with a substantial tip!

$5 used to be my mandatory minimum, but I upped it to $7 almost a year ago; I've decided to up the ante a little bit and not accept any orders under $8 from now on!

My theory is that you get a certain demographic around lunchtime in the Warminster/Warrington area; This has absolutely nothing to do with socioeconomic status...

    BFD2977A-9C23-4BA7-AC65-51330151B967.jpg
The 11:30am-3pm crowd has no specific background; I'd venture to guess that most of them are unemployed millennials. Since COVID, I rarely ever see the customers, but in this area I'd guess the majority of the lousy-tipping 11:30am-3pm crowd consists of unemployed millennials between the ages of 19 and 25 who have a case of the munchies...

    :rasta:

Believe it or not, it's the poorer and/or disabled people who are among the best tippers! One time, an attractive woman at an old rowhouse in Philly gave me $10 CASH tip on top of the decent amount she'd given me in the app!

This was actually not insultingly low, but a little under a year ago I read about an unofficially movement among dashers to decline all orders under $7 (it may have been $8), because there was a rumor that every time an order got declined, it went up by a whole dollar...

    46CCF117-BA0D-4230-90DC-EBE5C3CC42E1.jpg

This person missed my mandatory minimum by a mere quarter!
