So I was installing my rock sliders and noticed something somewhat alarming considering my truck is a TRD offroad and that was the crossover pipe is WAY below the tranny crossbar. I thought now why the heck is that so low, I mean the new skid plate would have to go under it and I'd lose 2 inches of clearance. So I looked around and notice a few guys moving this pipe up and back but adding 2 90 degree bends. Has anyone tested or have info on IF this causes any restrictions on that bank? I would like to move it up and out of the way if possible. Next cat back exhaust, I'm looking for something that will not drone the crap out of me but yet give a nice sound, was looking at the MBRP but youtube does not give you real life in cab sounds. Anyone running aftermarket have a good recommendations on the different options out there?

Imo, i think toyota should have come up with a better exhaust system also. I've already pinched that crossover pipe on some ice hard snowbanks when crawling over them. You could see a good size dent in the driver side of it. From the way the factory had the piped shaped, they had to know it would get crunched.

The low hanging part is actually double walled exhaust, with the inner pipe that actually carries exhaust being maybe 1.75'' in size. So, getting rid of it for any re route is a flow increase.

The pipe from the engine manifold to the cat isn't and that's got a good dinger in it also.

Just talked to muffler master and they said it will be around 200~220 and they have done them before. He said they rebuild the y pipe as well

It flexes well enough when it rubs. The only real worry is if it lands squarely on a rock. So IMHO, the only time that you need to really worry about it is if you are getting a transmission skid or you damage the hell out of it. As @Buttskevin21 said, it is double walled, so a bit of external damage is NBD.

I've dragged mine over berms and other non-jagged stuff plenty of times. I have much more contact scuffs on my tank and diff and just recently upgraded to an OR take off tank skid. Thanks, @msgs350 and @Bertw192 .

it’s getting a full skid soon and wanted it to be flat without that hump where the manufacturing guys go around it. So Friday it gets re routed, that’s for the help

    You're welcome!

That is the right move. If playing on things that can hand you up, even snow, it is going to be a benefit.
