Is the tundra brake upgrade worth it?

    No more concern really, a few people addressed my drivability concerns early on; I just thought that with so many people weighing in, it was worthwhile (and maybe even expected?) for me to state, as the OP, what the outcome of this thread has been this far. When I dig up an old thread and the OP never states an outcome, especially in a gremlin thread, it's frustrating as a reader.

    Anyway, I'll state for all to behold, I am unequivocally undecided, but leaning towards doing the upgrade when my pads are ready for replacement (probably this winter). Iffin' I do the upgrade or not, I'll try to remember to follow up again at that time.

    Keep us posted! I'm sure you'll do the right (and smart) thing and upgrade since you said yourself you'll most likely end up loading your Tacoma heavy.

    I like them so far. Idk if they stop as good as the tundra upgrade but they’re definitely better than stock.

    It is absolutely worth it! After using the stock brakes with my double cab, which is extremely heavy with its front ARB bumper, winch, rear steel bumper with duel swing arms and sliders. I've noticed a tremendous difference once I installed the tundra brake upgrade!

    I just went at it...its a direct swap over so it basically just like replacing what you got. Def worth it for performance and looks.

    Recently did the Tundra brake swap with the larger 13WL Calipers and I'm very pleased with the outcome.

    I still had plenty of meat left on my original brake pads so it's not like I'm comparing old worn out brakes to exaggerate the difference of the new parts either.

    Definitely worth doing.

    Agreed. One of the first things I learned when I started to drive at 15 was the less you need to even use your brakes, the better driver you probably are. Anticipating traffic patterns is key. So is being aware of every single asshat that’s texting around you. It’s almost everyone. It seems they’ll give a license to damn near anyone these days.

    I recently did the upgrade and I notice that the contact patch on the rotors from the pad isn't being fully utilized. There's about a quarter inch untouched surface closer to the hub and maybe 1/8 inch on the OD. Is this normal? or did I get a combo of 13WL parts and whatever the smaller ones are?
