Anyone have any recommendations for a body shop preferably in south Austin? Looking to get the hood and roof repainted.

Classic 2nd Gen problems lol my hood and roof are ROUGH! Let me know how that goes! I'm curious how much it would cost. I actually bought rattle cans to do it but been too Lay Z

 

AMM on South Manchaca did a fantastic repair job on my wife's old car - they might be able to do an in-and-out since they won't have to wait on parts.

The last time I spoke to them repairs were taking up to/over a month because of parts shortages.

Maaco north Lamar or burnet somewhere just north of 183 repainted my truck 2.5 years go - the roof was in terrible shape. The hood wasn't good and I had the usually scuffs and scratches that 15 years of abuse would deliver. I chose their mid-tier option (maybe 3rd least expensive out of 4 general options?) they had knowing I'm not easy on the truck and would rather spend my $$$ elsewhere. 2.5 years later the paint is holding up great. I could have them do it again when ready and still be at or near several other quotes I got at the time.

 

What kind of pricing did you get quoted at?

 

This was about 2 years ago. It was $1500 - I just found this in my notes - 10 hours of labor. I had a different tailgate and they swapped it. Looks like about 1000 for the paint and sealers. the "reconditioning" was focused on the roof and hood - $125 - then some work cleaning up the dings and scratches accumulated over time. I take care of all the maintenance and do all the suspension / mechanical work because I enjoy it, but tacking this is the polar opposite of fun for me. I'd gladly do it again in 10 years if necessary ...oh - and I stuck to the same paint color b/c they don't do under the hood, inside the doors and all the other crap that doubles or triples the cost. And by 'same' paint color they matched with their blend something close. If you're a perfectionist on paint and wax/clean your truck all the time this may not be the right solution. For me it's perfect.
