Use a 4' level as your straight edge guide. Tape the section to be cut with painters tape before you make the cut. The tape keeps tear out to a minimum. Measure twice, cut once, hang door. Also, when your morticing the rest of the doors ALWAYS pull your number from the top of the old door and transfer that to the new door.

Nice score on the circ saw.

Do you have enough clearance on the dryer vent here your supposed to have a min of 12 inches to the ground from bottom of the vent….

No, no there is not to be perfectly honest. Fact I had to dig it out a little bit to get to this point, it was kinda buried beforehand. Should have been drilled through the rim joist, which would have raised it a good 6". I'll dig out some more and use some landscaping blocks to keep soil out of the area, but right now the soil is frozen solid. This house is out in the country (although somehow I have cable TV/Internet) so there's no really codes for something such as that. I'm kinda dealing with the hand I've been dealt with on this one. The old vent was just willy-nilly in there, I did atleast try and secure it, seal it off with spray foam on the inside, and will do caulking on the outside when it warms up a little bit.

For travel to MO, you will have to cover 100% of my travel expenses, cover cost of supplies, $100 per diem and there are no guarantees...written or implied.

Welp, learned a good life lesson today.

Always plan for the unexpected expenses during a remodel.

I tried to scrape the popcorn off the ceiling in the bedroom that my laundry room remodel is happening in. It would not come off without gouging the board. I tried water, water and vinegar, different scrapers you name it. It just aint coming off.

I reached out to my drywall guy and hes gonna redo the ceiling for me. Its gonna cost me, but its a good life lesson. Or atleast thats what Im telling myself.

One thing to watch out for is the back pressure on this from not venting properly. I would think it would create moist air back into the house.

Replacing it with a louvered vent that blows out instead of down could help.

Will definitely keep this in mind. Only did one load today (keeping it to 1 load laundry per day due to septic) and it seemed to vent really well.

I was debating this, guess it's a little late now. The spray foam has got that thing locked in good. There's one of those styles to vent the dehumidifier that's installed, thinking about finding a brown one to match the dryer.

Just keep an eye on this as it would possibly cause a back pressure issue and maybe blow some high limit switches on the dryer…

Yes. But if in need of a quick fix this type of vent is far better than what hes got imo.

Yep did exactly that and am pretty happy with the results. Went over the rough edge with my sander and once painted will be as good as OEM. But when I went to hang it I realized it's too wide to close. It's narrower than the frame but not enough to accommodate the arc. Looks like I now need to rip 1/4" off the long edge. The way it's built means I don't need to worry about a cap, so my biggest issue is sanding those new edges to be presentable, then prime the new face. I've replaced doors before and didn't realize how fortunate I was at the time to have standard sizes that were a 10 minute job to get hung. This is a lot of damn labor & I'm crossing my fingers I don't ruin $1k worth of doors.

Pic of my new sawhorses and the cool place I found to hang the saw from. I was way too excited to find this.

If anyone has vents like this, I recommend some wire mesh between the pipe and vent cover. Ended up with a birds nest in my bathroom vent that had this kind, they figured how to perch on it, then lift the flap up and wriggle in. Dryer vents are also notorious entry points for critters and snakes because they’re warm. Wire mesh over everything.

Milwaukee also made that saw hanger the correct width to go over a standard 2 by.

They make them with wire mesh from the factory. $2 more, but worth it.

Yep I used the hell out of that hook doing the remodel for my 2 bathrooms. Just got these horses last week and hadn't used them yet to discover that spot. My girlfriend laughs but I compare my tools to her purses: it pains me to put them on the ground.

The problem with the wire mesh is that the lint from your dryer will eventually clog up the mesh. No one ever cleans those things. I’ve seen some so filled it was amazing that the clothes ever dried and that the house didn’t catch on fire
